Hey all, I also am interested, expected to leave Miami to shoot straight into Pereira..."Not." Is ok though, will make sure to get into Bogota early enough to experience it a bit and hopefully get to me a couple of you jokers. Will be there longer than a few hours though (Overnight), chao all...

Never minds guys, had a brain fart...helps to look back at prior posts, questioned answered. Same for you SDS, Enter Google search above and enter Bogota Airport Hotels, then click on the prior posts. Guaranteed a wealth of info there, especially first time entering the country (Such as myself), happy traveling.

Habitel is the only hotel within the airport premices, it is also included in the airport shuttle that goes between terminals. Other hotels in the area are the Sheraton and the Capital, but not sure how expensive they could be.

Guys I know you are trying to help but maybe I should be more specific: By not too expensive I am thinking a Motel for 50K. I only need to nap a few hours.

Juan the capital is 180usd, the habita 235usd, and the sheraton 270 usd on trip advisor, ouch !! Even half those prices would be way over budget.

Lampltr, the only hotel in the four links you posted near the airport is the sheraton. Downtown and zona rosa are not near the airport. Yes some of the links have people asking for something near the airport, but if you read the responses they are all properties which are not close by..

thanks.

Find a quiet corner in one of the new lounges.

SDS, look at the BBB (Bogota Guest House; (www.BogotaColombiaLodging.com) that was listed in the last link. I have personally done business with them many times and they are super people, speak English, and even have a USA number for calling. Not sure where the guest house is, but give them a call and ask or if only a few hours, do not waste your $$, do as Lowell suggests and as another poster stated for securing your bags together with zip ties, then attach to the seating where you will snooze.

I called the BBB, looks nice but again not near the airport. Sorry I am not sleeping in the airport with everything bundled in zip ties... Guess I will be at the mercy of the taxista.

As in one of the links above (If I remember correctly) there is directions on which taxi's to take and how to proceed with them for transactions and you will be fine.

SanDiegoSurf, it is a 20 minutes car drive to and from the airport (on not rush hours) too far?. There are a couple of hotels on carrera 5 and 24 street. Called Hotel del Parque. There are a few smaller ones.

There are only about 6 red lights from carrera 5 and 24th to the airport.

Ok i got the scoop from one of the airport workers today the closest hotel is la puente only 5min away and 45K.

Unfortunately they did not have any rooms left and i ended up staying in the airport.

Also the guy specifically said not to ask the taxista for recommendations. I am sure some are honest. but many are not.

also thanks for the reply webmanco

El Puente must be the one off Avenida el Dorado and Avenidad Boyaca, north east corner.
