PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
Almost certain I know everything I need for my marriage in Colombia. However, the apostil (apostille) on the birth certificate I am stuck on. I know I can get an apostil on the original birth certificate. However for the spanish translation, I don't think texas will issue an apostil since that wouldn't be a document issued by them. Does Colombia just want a translation of the original birth certificate and apostil??? That would be by a notary who is also a translator. If so this would probably be the cheapest route to go. I contacted certifiedtranslation.net and they offered to translate both for $175 which I thought was just nuts!!! In any case I would appreciate any help, as to this is the right process: 1. Apostil original birth certificate 2. Acquire translation of the apostilled certificate. Thank you!!!

utopiacowboy says on Jul 6, 2006, 14:35: You can get an apostille of the translation if she notarizes her translation. I was able to take it and get it done in Austin. They give you an apostille for the notarization. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

famsearch says on Jul 6, 2006, 16:11: if i remember right, from what i went through, all you need is the apostille for the original document. all it is is verification from your home state's dept of state, that the document is what it says, and is legitimate. i never got apostilles for the translations, which i did most of myself. hope that helps. dan 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
