Bety La Fea

I'm happy to announce that I just came back from Japan and while I was surfing the few local TV channels in my hotel room I saw that Bety La Fea (Colombian Novela) was on. It was dubbed in Japanese and could also listened to it in Spanish in the SAP. I was proud to see something Colombian in such a far away place.

Not dubbed. In Germany they bought the story of 'Betty La Fea' last year and made a custom German version 'Verliebt in Berlin'. Right now in The Netherlands they're broadcasting the Dutch custom made version of 'Betty La Fea' as 'Lotte' (which is a girl's name).

FYI there is a Mexician novella knock-off coming out net month. Will be, I think, on Telemundo.

"SIC FRIATUR CRUSTUM DULCE. OBESA CANTAVIT."

"Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" .

We are trying to highlight Colombian productions and we have established here at PBH that Colombian soap operas are among the best in the world, and now you are trying to tell us that there is a novela that you believe will knock your socks off?
I guess you are 100% familiar with their productions, but if you are not, maybe you could be a bit more cautious in the free advertising.
Or do you meant to say this novela is also Colombian production??

What the hell are you...

talking about??? I never said, "and now you are trying to tell us that there is a novela that you believe will knock your socks off?"
I said "Will be a knock OFF." All that means, tonto, is it is a "production" that leans heavely on Betty la Fea's story line. Get your facts straight before you comment.

BTW, the wife and I live in Bogotá and NEVER missed a segment of "Betty la Fea".

"SIC FRIATUR CRUSTUM DULCE. OBESA CANTAVIT."

"Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" .

I'm totally hooked on "La Ex", Caracol's primetime telenovela. It is outrageously funny, vibrant, fast-paced, full of stereotypes and exaggerations and totally captivating! It's like a satire on telenovelas of the classical type( women either cry, scream, kiss or pull each other's hair, men all all machos, all unfaithful s.o.bs, all women are in love with the same dude blah blah blah).
I'm also watching La Tormenta.

I'm sorry I missed this whole Betty La Fea thing. I never watch soap operas in Sweden, hardly watch any tv at all, except news. Now I don't know if I can live without Colombian soaps.

Cheers,
Desi

Gator I am sorry, I misunderstood your post; once in a while I make such a stupid mistakes! I am going to have to take some time off.

Desideria, occasionally or most of the time, when the time is most appropriate, you made me feel real good.
Yep, they are doing a good job in soap operas production and in TV productions in general, let's hope they don't deviate from the goal or change their focus very soon.
Have you seen the show "Conociendo a Colombia?" Or how about the mini stories, "Historia de hombres sola para mujeres" or I think it’s the other way around "Historia de Mujeres solo para hombres," I love this show, it is excellent – sometimes the stories appear to be so real and touching! I like to see the midget when he is acting. I mean this guy has a magnetic and natural personality. In one show he was trying to date a co-worker in a publishing firm, she was very tall. I think they called her “la jirafa and at the end he conquered her, or she conquered him or the conquered each other, I don’t member the exact details, but it was a happy ending. The midget and la jirafa, it’s all I can remember.

Desi Thank you, now I remember the name of the popular Colombian soap opera that is competing with an American soap opera in the US for the first place. It is la Tormenta also very popular in Rumania.
My favorite show is "Caracol y BancoColombia más cerca" I typed the wrong name above, "Conociendo a Colombia"
None of the two novelas that you have mentioned have been broadcasted to this part of the world yet. But anyway, they both sound very boring because you said they are full of stereotypes.

Here in Malaysia they have shown before`Betty La Fea ` , `Cachaco y Costena` and `Pasion De Gavilanes`. Currently they have `Luna la Heredera`. Original dialogue with Malay subtitles. I presume many Asian countries are showing them.
Personally I like to see them to brush up my Spanish and Colombian Spanish is very nice to listen. Characters and storylines are also quite good, generally much better compared with Mexican or Venezuelan soaps.

no, monpirri;) "But anyway, they both sound very boring because you said they are..."

"La Ex" is intentionally stereotypical and outrageously funny. It's like a satire of telenovelas but you'd have to be a Colombian (you are, right?) and living in Colombia (you aren't, right?) to fully appreciate the humor in it.

La Tormenta is a melodrama placed on the llanos orientales.

Thank you for the explanation.:)
Now I think I like "La Ex" and I love "La Tormenta" because "La Potra Zaina" was shot on los Llanos Orientales and I enjoyed it very much.
