Zaptel is 10cents to cell , 5 cents to home line The connection is okay, nothing like Skype for sure. Some dropped calls, sometimes you have to dial 2-3 times to get through.

When sending text messages through theses web portals, make sure the person on the receiving end isn't being charged for them. The Tigo site used to have a statement relating to this and said the recipient was charged a few hundred pesos per text. I haven't used this in a while, but you should make sure.

When I send international messages through my cell provider in the US(Sprint), I get charged, but the recipient doesn't.

The cellphone companies in colombia DO charge about 375 pesos I think. I knew about the text message option and about skype but most people I know in colombia do not have broadband so the quality is very poor.

Smile if you are a thinker!

i just called Tigo and they said that there is no charge for web text messages for senders or receivers if you limit your text messages to 3 per day to EACH Tigo cell number.

Thanks Arthur That's good to know. I read the charge notice on the old site before they changed their name to Tigo.
