Best Chinese in Medellin? In China? Zunga? Asia? Something else?

Truth be told... I haven't tried any of these...

I'm guessing cheap chinese in Medellin isn't worth the hassle... so which is the very best?

Any experiences?

Great Thai restaurant in Lleras= "Royal Thai." Jennifer, the owner, is the real deal.

She works the kitchen to insure authenticity. If you want it spicy tell her when ordering.

I've been there several times and enjoyed it a lot. Especially the 9,000 COL lunch specials.

Indeed, Royal Thai is very good... Thaico is a joke (at least for food)...

Is anyone prepared to name the best Chinese... or do I have to eat in them all?

It appears the rumours about an Indian restaurant... were just rumours... sob.

I would avoid the Chinese Eateries period. They(cooks) use a lot of MSG in their foods plus most food prep tables in the back(out of sight from customers) are usually pretty dirty with lots of roaches, rodent droppings ect.

well, englishman, that depends on if you're looking for 'chinky' chinese or haute cuisine. for the latter, you gonnna have to listen to the above...if it's just chop sticks and fried rice...well there's the fat man in laureles off san juan, about a block from setenta, and on oriental (ave poblado) as you're comin from downtown headin for poblado, the first exit down to the right into barrio manila, if the old restaurant is still there on that triangle piece of dirt has chop sticks and an asian or two who own the place. it's the 'chinky' stuff.

happy eating.

Royal Thai

If you exit the front entry of Juan Valdez, turn left and cross the street towards San Carbon. Continue walking one block. Al Grappa Italian is on the second floor and Royal Thai on the street level. It is next door to the parking garage.

Jennifer, the owner is Thai. She says the recipes are her family's and traditional Thai. The food is authentic but not spicy enough unless you request it.

thaico? you gotta be sh!tting me! food sucks and it doesn't taste anything like Chinese food not even thai. Only good thing in thaico is the cocktails thats it.... good Chinese food = La Paila China and Casa Mandarin both in La 80. Actually they have lots of Chinese places all along La 80, but to me those 2 are the best.

There's a cheap place about a block up from Parque de los Deseos and the Secretaria del Gobierno that actually wasn't too bad as far as Medellin Chinese food goes - there were even East Asians in the kitchen!

Whatever you do, don't eat at the Chinese on Ave poblado that is sort of diagonally across from park Poblado. It was horrible and not even cheap!
