Best beaches of Colombia

What areas of Colombia have good beaches.
Are there any that are not major tourist traps?
I have enjoyed Cartagena, a beach at one of the Islas Del Rosario and Santa Marta.
What else is good and can you get there with ease?
Are there any good beaches on the Pacific side?

I really like the beach at Covenas. Better yet is the bus ride from Monteria to Lorica where you change for Covenas. It's a blast.

the only beaches on the Pacific side that I know are Juanchaco and Ladrilleros near Buenaventura. There's Bahia Solano and some beaches in Chocó that are supposed to be really nice, but I haven't been there myself.

You say you've enjoyed beaches in Santa Marta, but I´m guessing you refer to the Rodadero area only, if that´s the case than I have to recommend the beaches along the coast of Taganga... and of course the also nearby Parque Tayrona which is the best I´ve ever seen, and not touristy at all most of the year. San Andres has a beautiful ocean too.

Covenas utopia,

I have been reading some of your posts and replies.
I have noticed some discussion about safety on the bus ride to Covenas, and I would like to know if you consider the bus ride safe.
It seems gringoenbogota had other feelings. Hope to hear from you soon.

My family NEVER take any chances where my safety is concerned. If they think I can ride the bus from Monteria to Lorica and then from Lorica to Covenas then it is safe. There is a large oil pipeline terminal near Covenas and the military maintains a large presence there. The bus ride is a huge amount of fun stopping in the towns along the way with vendors selling food and stuff. It is the real Colombia!

I remember going to a nice private beach on Del Rosario.

The beach I went to in Cartagena was nice, but people are constantly trying to sell knockoff sunglasses, knockoff watches, sombreros, massages, etc. It makes it very difficult to relax and enjoy the beach.
