Best beach around Cartagena

When I visited Cartagena back in 2001 the nicest, cleanest and most peacefull beach I could find was Playa Blanca. The extemely annoying sellers on the beaches close to the city seems not only to piss off me but also the colombian vacationers. I am taking my girl to Cartagena in October and we would like to know if Playa Blanca still is the best option? Any advice would be appreciated including how to get there. I am looking forward to visit this colonial pearl again.

Are there any special events going on in October?

Hope to hear from you,
Valdemar

Nothing in October Bring your umbrella and hip waders. If you want to go to Playa Blanca in October, go by taxi. October is the wettest month of the year in CTG.

There are beaches in the city, Castillo Grande for example, that are not so heavily patrolled by touts.

Valdemar, if you like beaches go to Santa Marta. Cartagena is not about beaches.

damn..... I should have thought of the weather. However, there is a lot to do in the city if its pouring down. If the suns come out I guess we will head for Playa Blanca by bus or check out Castillo Grande.

thanks,
valdemar

It´s not raining here I´m in Cartagena right now and it´s too goddamn hot and sunny in my opinion. It´s also twice as expensive as the states because I have to buy a bottle of water every ten minutes.

If You Don't Like the Main Beach... try Isla Barú easy, short small boat trip best bet Playa Blanca. Try to avoid the weekends if possible because very crowded. A couple of others are Boquilla and a little past that is Manzanillo Beach
