Barrio Kennedy or Patio Bonito en Bogotà

Hey there! I´ve been living in Bogotà for about 6 months now and am looking for a different place to live. Money is tight (afterall, this is "Poor But Happy", ¿no?), so I`m looking for an apartment for around $200,000/mensual...I know its not much. A friend has an apartment near Kennedy/Patio Bonito that`s adorable, but I`m a bit concerned about security. I feel comfortable visiting there, but visiting and living in a certain area are two very different things. I stick out like a sore thumb...I´m a 6` tall gringa, so I wouldn`t exactly be hard to pick out of a crowd.

Anyone have any advice one way or the other?

Kenedy or Patio Bonito Kendedy is a huge neigborhood, there are safe places and some "un safe". But there are many other options for a bugde like you describe. North Occident, check out Pontevedra, Minuto de Dios, Bolivia, Bachue etc. I know of a girl who would like to share the apartment she lives in, it is located in Niza Antigua.

For $200,000 It'll be tough to get your own place. I know that here in El Centro near Universidad Tadeo you can rent some very nice rooms for that amount of money.

As webmanco said, Kennedy is a huge neighbourhood, you can find nice places and bad ones my mum owns an apartment there and is nice and safe were it is. But the area of patio Bonito is not a nice and definitely not a safe place, I would not recommend it. Nice areas of Kennedy?, I like Banderas,paraiso,El rincon de los angeles, techo

You are going to be near the transmilenio if i am not wrong, last time there were going to built a big station there. is that near to another area of kennedy call Nuevo Kennedy? cuz near there is not that bad but still I would be careful at night.
