If you wish to stay in a nice place here is an aparta hotel i can recommend that is a lot cheaper than the hotels.ive used it a lot.Sorrentos aparta hotel.
If you are staying for 3 weeks to a month you will get a better deal.I paid 60,000 col peso,s a day...2 bedrooms..balconey ...hot water for shower.central air..kitchen with appliances ..tvs in living room and bedrooms..cafe on premises which provides food service to rooms as well, and wireless internet. ph 358 7804.If you use it tell them dan from canada sent you.

jinks is right, the Sorrentos is nice....you could also try Alvaro Jesus. If you trust your girl in BQ, have her make the arrangements.... it's almost always cheaper to have a local make the reservations in person than being a gringo making them over the phone or the internet. And taxis, yes no meters. But usually not a big deal. Again if you can, have your girl negotiate with the driver ..... but typically for trips within the city you shouldn't pay more than 3 to 5 mil. I have a couple taxi driver buddies that are cheap and honest if you want their phone number. Taxis are everywhere, but when you find a reliable honest driver it is very nice to just stick with him when you can.

Our beloved Elmodefoque has a nephew in BQ that has a new taxi. Maybe you could throw a little business at a fellow PBHer.

And excellent advice on having your girl make the arrangements. I did this all the time when I was in Colombia. Once, I called a hotel, and was given a certain rate. Then, a half hour later my wife called; there was a significant price difference. We ended up just going to a different hotel anyway.

hey, i got a brand new (2008) taxi in curramba with kick ass music system a la orden!
When i'm not with my cachaca wife i stay in Versalle and when she's with me we do El Prado.
El Versalle i like cus is cheaper, nice breakfast, safe, modern and most important they don't hassle you if you stumble all drunk at 3 am with a hooker or two or three or even four like we did when i was with my buddy from this site.

GENOVA HOTEL I stayed there for a few days and found the prices very competitive, but its not in a great area....I would not recommend this for a gringo but for you Colombians in the USA, this hotel is not bad, pool, internet, restaurant, ect. $65.000 pesos

Have your girlfriend do ALL the talking to the Taxi´s, you, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT ! As soon as they hear your voice, the price will increase. If you are alone, ask someone at the hotel of the restaurant, store, whereever you are how much a trip should be from point A to point B, 99% of the people here know what the correct amounts are. YES, Taxi´s do in a way make up their own prices, but if you dont like the price, bargan, if they wont come down, wait for another cab, they are all over the place.

Cab prices aer HIGHER at night, on Sundays and holidays, this is NORMAL. Same with the bus service,

Bottom line, if you cant get ELMOS cab, AND I WOULD SUGGEST YOU USE HIS CAB FOR ANY TRIP YOU WANT TO TAKE TO CARTAGENIA OR MANTA MARTA, let your girlfriend do the talking.

Semper Fidelis !
