Barranquilla

I'll be going to visit the city of Barranquilla sometime in the near future , a friend of mine told that if you hug a Bonga in Barranquilla you stay energetic for the rest of your life .So I will make the trip and hug few of them, and who knows if I happen to come across a real Bongita that will make my trip even sweeter :).

So can someone guide me to an aparthotel in Barranquilla , I really don't like to cramp myself to a one room hotel , I prefer an aparthotel that usually have a living room , bedroom, and a kitchen , I don't know for how long I'll be staying but I know for sure a minimum of one month and what the the monthly rent will be ? I'll be cooking my own food mostly , I am an an excellent cook , but will eat out occasionally , put it this way , the more money I save on not eating out, the longer I will stay in this city that no one really says much about.

check out sorrentos apartahotel....not sure of the ph no but if you do a web search
(sorrentos aparta hotel barranquilla )im sure you will find it...alvaro jesus is anouther...both of these are decent with a/c and lots of room and if you are staying for a month you should be able to negociate a better rate.In the past ive gotten rooms at sorrentos for 60,000 col a day but other times ive paid more...depends when ...how long your staying..and of course how well you barter..
good luck

Hola!

We stayed at Apartahotel Yivinaca in Barranquilla. It has cold water for showers, but we heated water on the stove, so it was good. The A/C was fine and needed. The kitchen & living room area is hot, but liveable!

$35 is the price a night.

Look out for TAXI RATES! They can be 3000 or 5000 for the same distance with different cabs! It was some what close to the USA Embassy, but just by cab since its too hot to walk that distance.

bump this up as I am going there in a few days and curious as well, any suggestions as to the place closest to nightlife, I have no clue what I am going to do for those few days, probably during the week, so I figure drink as much of the colombians alcohol as possible! :)

I am looking for being close to stuff :) elmo says the north? I am single so I just need a place with a/c bed, bathroom, and not much else. Thoughts?

Sorry to inform you. There's just about no nightlife in BAQ, as most other Colombian cities, during the week (Sun-Wed). You probably would have better luck during these nights in CTG. Thurs. is when things start to pick up. Fri-Sat. the city comes to life.

I AGREE WITH MY BUDDY TONE

barranquilleros work their ass off during the week, so what some people do is, they take their ass to cartagena,( one hour and 15 minutes away) during the week, unless you have lots of unemployed family and friends to keep you company, but you have to buy drinks.
I spend 2 weeks in medellin and almost hanged myself by my balls from boredom during the week. They don't have a cartagena or santa marta near by.

ALL THE FANCY CLUBS ARE IN NORTH BARRANQUILLA

Hola!

I was walking around Apartahotel Yivinaca at night on a weeknight and although there were a number of places nearby it, they were empty. I was looking for a place that had people in it and finally after walking a while I settled on a panderia and drank Aguilar with local guys on a break doing construction work. I was more amazed my Spanish was good enough to have a conversation with them.
