PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
Hello, I am interested in going to Barranquilla for a week or so and just wanted to know some info about nightlife, beaches, happenings places, shopping malls and women. I have not found too much info on this city except that quite a few say its pretty ugly but how are the people there, generally friendly and open and easy to talk with? Also, is there a certain part of the city that is best to stay? I heard it is always hot and humid so t shirt and shorts are acceptable, true? Thanks PBHers.

zed2283 says on Jan 31, 2008, 19:47: The wifey says that the Barranquilla zoo is one of the best in Colombia. Buena Vista Mall is a nice American-style mall. La Murillo (the main avenue) is the happening place for nightlife. The best beaches are in Santa Marta, about an hour away, but they do have some beaches around Barranquilla (Salgar, Prado Mar, Puerto Colombia). My wife says you can also buy tickets to private beaches at Cajacopy or Comfamiliar.
