Avianca treats barranquilleros like second class citizens

So here I am trying to book a flight on-line back to curramba thinking the avianca modefoque I spoke to earlier this week made a mistake and that in fact they still have direct fights to Barranquilla from JFK.
I’m normally a very mellow happy go lucky kind of guy, few things piss me off but this chit me saco el indio. I’m mad as hell and aint gonna take it anymore and I hope avianca officials reads this chit (please don’t delete)
Let me give you a little history, first of all it was Barranquilla and my family who founded this fokin airline. Not only that, it was also the first commercial airline in the spic continent.
While Barranquilleros were flying around people n Bogotá, Medellin and Cali would run and hide behind trees scared shitless at the sight of this strange flying object. Now we don’t fokin count???
We had cars and phones way before it reached the interior, and we don’t fokin count??? Fok you!! fok you! fok youuuuuuuu!!!
I can’t believe that to reach my city I have to get on a direct fight to Cali or Pereira or Medellin, what kind of bullshit is that? Why the fok would I want to land smack in the middle of the fokin jungles?????
I just finished talking to them thar avianca modefoques and they explained that few passengers travel to Barranquilla compared to the over one million cachacos living abroad.
Listen, I don’t give a rats ass if only 7 fokin barranquilleros live in USA compared to over a million fokin cachacos.
We founded this airline and Barranquilla is the first city you see when the plane reaches Colombia , why the fok should I have to sit there and look at mountains and jungle for another fokin hour to do the same chit a few hour later. Drop me off in fokin Barranquilla even if you have to throw my black ass out in fokin parachute, fok my luggage.
Thank you!!

Try to not land en el Calancala, though. Alla atracan a los gringos.

How the fok do they get into USA, enquiring minds need to know. Most of the women chased gringos all over the streets back home and bamboozled them into bringing them here, others claimed “political persecution “ wink wink and the rest came and overstayed their tourist visas.
But Bucaramanga, why the fok do they get a direct flight and Barranquilleros are told to go fok themselves.
Even if we only have a dozen barranquilleros living in the USA, they should have at least one direct flight outta respect for the founding fathers.

Hi elmo,

I think Avianca is in the process of retiring some of their MD-80 series planes which was the type aircraft used for the flights to Barranquilla.

I'll bet once they get the rest of the Airbus later this year, they'll reinstate those flights.

No disrespect, but B'quilla has a rep as being very hot and humid, with little to do and see for the tourists. That's why the gringos go to cachaco-land. . . ;)

Still, it makes me think B'quilla might be a haven for certain expats if only to avoid the phenomena of expats coming in and blowing up prices for everything and "ruining" the local scene and culture. Are there any suburbs or areas in/around Curramba that might be a nice, relatively inexpensive place for an expat to live in?

Still, the humidity and heat might be a dealbreaker for me. . .

curramberochris says on Apr 15, 2008, 09:37:

Not that humid when you get used to it,lots to do if you like music, dancing, the sea, drinking, art, cinema.
I'm from a small island in the Irish sea and waking up here beats the wind and frost and fog.

I can't take more than a weekend in Cartagena, too many tourists and compared to Barranquilla, it is really humid. You can feel the difference!

A lot of people I know that live here say that they would never live in one of the "big" cities in Colombia as you can't lead the same life style as you can here.

Each to their own I suppose.

That flight is one of the longest that the MD-80 series jet can handle. . . so with fuel prices being what it is, the costs just weren't cutting it for Avianca.

The combo flight to B'quilla and then Pereira should come back late June with a nice new Airbus A319, capacity 120 people

Robi666 - The word is SOUL. The city is drenched in it.

All I can say is if I'm in Barranquilla, I get bored, chicas not withstanding. What are my options? Stay in the city and safely enjoy the different flavors of life that pass by. Or, take a bus safely 1 hour in one direction and end up in El Rodadero. Or take a bus approx. 1.5 hours in the other direction and I'm in Cartagena. Now those are some vacation options. No?

In Cali, again chicas not withstanding, when you get bored, what is there to do???? Crickets....... Seriously, Chipechape to roast? Juanchito? Av. Sexta?

In Medellin, again chicas not withstanding, when you've done all the tourist crap (Parque Lleras, Pueblito Paisa, Sante Fe de Antioquia, the chica gawking at Oveido, etc.) in 2-3 days, what's left??? The weather??? Yeah right. Crickets..... It only comes down to the white available-for-sale chucha there. You can't bullshit a bullshitter.

Bogota has many things to do, BUT I'm not going on an international vacation to end up in London, England with the cold, damp, foggy, rainy, maybe a bit of sun schizo weather there. That shit's depressing.

"NY, are you serious? There's a war going on in Colombia. Israel is more or less at peace, compared to Colombia, and is a relatively calm place."

Pedro- Israel is at peace? Calm place? It is the Middle East right?
You think Colombia is more dangerous than the Middle East?

I wouldn't be backpacking through Camelfucking territory!

For the tourist, damn right Colombia is more dangerous than Israel. I've been to both places within the last few years, so my comparison surely counts for something.

que nota!

Que chistoso eres!
I know Israel is very dangerous, but I want to go AND..it has always been my aunt's dream to go there, so I have to take her...and I decided that since I have to drag her, I will drag her to Egypt too...je je je...

You are right about starting to look...just get married and have kids...

I have friends who go to Israel, but I wouldn't go anywhere near the M. East!!
I'm sure it's nice and they're promoting tourism, but it is still smack damn in the middle of terrorism central!

MaFe says on Apr 15, 2008, 14:40:

NY bombero...I didn't picture you the type to run from excitement...je je je

Terrorism central?

Well, enjoy New York and Colombia then, where terror attacks would be unthinkable.

que nota!

nueva york bombero says on Apr 15, 2008, 14:46:

The amount of terror attacks don't compare. Every day something happens there.
New York - not a peep since 9/11.
Colombia - sure kidnappings and other shit goes down, but not in comparison.
I know, I should go to Israel before I comment, but no thanks!

MaFe says on Apr 15, 2008, 14:53:

Pedro...you are kidding right? I am safer in NY....

NYB, it's ok I think you like Colombianitas better...

If you feel safer, then good for you.

But statistically, you probably aren't.

just go to Parque Tayrona and enjoy some fine Israeli company there. Last I went some Colombians there commented it was like being in Israel, just nicer.

What I have, I do not want to lose, but Where I am I do not want to stay, but those I love, I do not want to leave, but those I know I no longer want to see, but Where I die, I do not want to go;I want to stay where I have never been
