AVIANCA airlines

I purchased my tickets to Medellin today, however I am connecting in Miami from Delta to Avianca, and I only have 30 minutes to do so!!! Will this be a problem ? I figure as long as I dont check any bags in I can safely run from my terminal, to the one where Avianca takes off. If anyone has experience with Avianca or Miami International please let me know, Muchas Gracias

Going to be tough Miami Airport is HUGE! Chances are you'll have more than 30 minutes but I'd be a bit nervious. Good luck.

Have an nice night in Miami. A friend last March had an hour and didn't make it. He also had no checked bags. If everything goes like it is supposed to(and it NEVER does), last call for MDE is 15 minutes prior to take-off. That leaves you 15 minutes. Your arrival time is when the plane comes to rest at the gate, not necessarily when you get off. I wouldn't count on making it.

Absultely no chance. It will take you 15 minutes just to figure out how to get to the ticket booths for Avianca where you must check in. The line there wil be at lest an hour. The only time I have ever not stood in a line over an hour long for Avianca was when I got there 4 hours before anyof their flightes were taking off. After this line, it takes 10 minutes just to get to the terminal.. you have to take the moving like tram.. then you have to go trhough security wehre there will be another line. 2hours is pushing it. 30 minutes.. no chance.

Maybe a Chance of Connecting Only Because its Avianca And they are ALWAYS LATE leaving Miami(or any other place for that matter)If Avianca follows their usual pattern, I would guess you would depart at least 45 minutes late from Miami, so add that to the 30 you posted and you now have 75 minutes. If Avianca leaves on Time it will be a first and this isn't meant as Joke. Not having any Checked in Luggage is also good as that reduces the chance of theft which is very high at MIA(as evidence, I cite the $7.4 million Dollars stolen from a secure(?) MIA locker last week). I think you will be OK only because of the proven track record of Avianca or mejor dicho, "Siempre Tarde". Have a Good Flight!

ok... OK.. you guys made me nervous now!! : )

its not like i have to run down stairs and get my baggage, the avianca terminal is right next to my arriving terminal... i seriosly dont think i will have to go thru any security check?! except the avianca gate and turn my eticket into a real ticket... ill have 15 minutes to get off the plane and do that... ehhhhh but if seriously you guys think i wont make it i guess i can call avianca pay a 100 more dollars and change it to the later flight, by the way im arriving at 6.30 am and supposed to be boarding avianca at 6.55... if you guys seriously think i wont make it i will change my avianca flight, i really appreciate it!!!!! muchas gracias you guys..

You might make it I have never seen an Aviance flight leave on time but with my luck there it would happen if I were trying to connect. Seriously a lot can go wrong like your plane being delayed even a few minutes. However worst case if you don't make it rebook on the later flight at the terminal I really doubt the plane is sold out. I am a risk taker and probably give it a try but that is me and it has gotten me into trouble before. Just be prepared for problems.

Hey Folks it's a Connecting Flight! When I check in with Delta I get my Avianca boarding passes. (SMF-ATL-MDE) No need to go to the ticket counter and check in with Avianca in Miami. If at all possible when you get off the plane stay within the secure zone of the Miami airport. If you have to go outside the secure zone and have a long way to go like from ared D or E to A go upstairs to the moving walkway and you will be there in 5-6 minutes as opposed to a 15 - 20 min walk. I regularly go from B all the way down to the Chili's near G, (sit at the bar for faster service!) and then back to A terminal using the moving walkway system. Whereas Avianca can be notoriously late, you mentioned a 7am flight that they probably had all night to prep for, but still I'm thinking you'll have a chance to make it. If you don't there is the afternoon flight and since you were booked with a short (unallowed) connection time even Avianca probably won't hassle you. If they do get a bit uppity just go to the Delta help counter and it will be made right.

I Was... just about to post what MedellinViking advised. Since they code share it makes it much easier. His directions are also right in line. just be sure and advise Delta of you plans/problems when you originally board the Miami flight. They are usually very accommodating.

I would be surprised if everything does not work out O.K. Please let us know.

LISTEN dont worry, assuming your flights on scedule the aviana gate is not far from the delta gate.youll have your boarding pass already so just find the aviana terminal and go to the person there who is standing in front.tell him or her the situatuion, i had the same experience in the same airport, the guy walked me right up to the front and i got IN the plane.I didnt get ON it because its too windy up there...Dont worry much.

Noooo Way!!! I hope I'm not correct in my prediction... but, I don't think you will make it. I flew into Miami from Italy and it wasn't even close! By the time I got off the plane in Miami - the other plane was pushing away from the gate. But, the good news is... Avianca will put you up in a nice hotel! I was able to see a Miami Heat game and saw some sights in Miami! = )
