Some changes I made some changes.. the list of new topics and comments now only shows up on forum pages.. hope that helps the speed.

I'll try to tweak it to speed the site up and find other methods too...

Working on it I'm turned off a few things, and am working on it.

Could you continue to let me know if you get those crazy error pages, or if the site is very slow, and when that happens?

Status from Miami (T-1 and ADSL) Hi Peter,

I hardly log on to PBH on Saturday and Sunday but today I have had no problems from work (T-1) and home (ADSL). Looks like you have fixed it, so far.

Thanks,

A suggestion... Peter forgot to mention it in the survey form your requested, but it would be a great idea to include a print function on the website. i.e. where a sub page is opened with just the script of the conversations.

Reason being theres times when theres a really good post i want to read later, and it would be great to just print it and read it later on!

Peter (Moderator) says on Jul 29, 2006, 08:07:

didn't change anything the last few days.

One thing that's causing the problems is Dreamhost, my host. They are having problems. The heat waves are causing power outages that are causing some of the problems. More info here: http://status.dreamhost.com/

If that is the main problem, then the problems should go away by themselves. I'm keeping an eye on it.

Sorry for the ongoing trubles!

Try hitting the refresh. Then the threads read are correct.

Hit refresh and then wait 5 minutes for the page to come back up. The server performance is abysmal.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Miguel says on Aug 3, 2006, 10:43:

Pure and simple The server move is not improving PBH. I have posted several replies today and have waited an average of 4 minutes to see my posts. No wonder those with trigger fingers wind up posting and replying 6 times to the same thread. I think Peter has added too many "extra" features, like video clips, that the new server cannot handle. It is not a user friendly experience anymore on this site. I spend way more time in JD's COLBlog lately.

Slowness Hi all,
you're all right, the slowness must stop.

There can be a bunch of reasons, I'll have to do testing and figure it out. In about a week and a half I'll have a few days and I promise I will work day and night to fix it!
