AT LAST! - Our FIRST ENGLISH Language NEWS BROADCAST from BOGOTA !!!

Dear All:

RCN has just enlisted the help of celebrated American journalist BRIAN ANDREWS (Ex-CNN Television Anchorman, etc.) to regularly broadcast an English language news segment through the internet. Mr. Andrews fell in love with Colombia, and he has happily started a new life in Bogota, his new home. Let’s be sure to give him our support (by viewing his much needed broadcasts).
Hey, I know that most of us do not want to let the beautiful-Colombia-cat-out-of-the-bag abroad, but at least as long as we have such professional, Colombia-understanding journalists to protect the real identity of Colombia, I think that it will all turn out as best as humanly possible.

TB - i was referring to the video embed feature on Canal RCN. it should work just like a youtube video that can be posted here on PBH.

These vids are set to auto play. The echo effect of having two on the same page was too much for me! I've deleted this one, cause tejas really was there first :)

Anyone who thinks like that is doing a disservice to Colombia.

Holy shit, that's Brian Andrews from South Florida's WSVN Channel 7 News where CNN's Rick Sanchez also used to work!

I remember when Brian Andrews was in Bogota for a story several years ago and interviewed Pastrana. I guess he fell in love with Colombia then, that's awesome!

just had a quick chat with brian. get ready to welcome our newest member from bogota. brian informed me that his gig with RCN is something of a pilot and he would like to garner as much support as possible in order to demonstrate this new service is beneficial to RCN, Colombia & the world. let's show him some PBH style support and help get this gig rolling....

* special thanks to Toby for highlighting this for the rest of us.

-Sorry Simon, you certainly have a good point. But perhaps I just wasn't clear. Of course I want Colombia to enjoy the wonderful image abroad that it so sorely deserves, it is just that I am also well aware that many foreigners living in Colombia, and Colombians themselves do not want their beautiful country changed/ruined and have its resorts that look/feel like Cancun or Vegas. Speaking only for myself, I love Colombia so very much, and irrespective of theories or opinions about it, I just wish Colombia the very best of everything!

Thanks again TejasMarcos, but we just have to be grateful to Brian, who I find to be an exceptional human being and journalist, and who is now doing so much for Colombia, and of course to RCN for giving him this opportunity.

Hi. Thanks for all the positive thoughts about my new project. We're just getting off the ground. As a gringo who fell in love with this special place, I've always wanted to do something to help Colombia. With this newscast, I'm hoping I can help change international perception about this place... and show the world the true Colombia. However, I do need your help I need as many people as possible to check out the news each day on the site in order to drive up the number of visits to the site and keep RCN happy. So, please, email the site address to all your friends. www.canalrcn.com/newsinenglish. Also, I welcome any input on how to make it better, story content, etc. You can always email me at bandrews at canalrcn.com

Hola!

I am not sure what is happening, but I tried my Mozilla FireFox and Internet Explorer and I can not get http://www.canalrcn.com/ loaded. Maybe they need a faster server?

Since my Spanish is not so good, I tend to learn about Colombia via the BBC's news English website. Their Spanish version might be your competition if they ever started an English version of their content.
