One hopes that the event organisers will bring along, aside from the staple favourite Ajiaco soup, some treats from the Santander region such as the Hormigas Culonas Tostaditas – toasted fat bottomed ants. These huge flying ants have been smoked out of their hills and once stripped of their wings are toasted up by the thousand making for a tasty if not interesting and unusual snack.

Has anyone tried the aphrodisiac drink that they make at el Mercado or at "El Restrepo" in Bogotá? Well they said the drink is supposed be real good but I have my doubts.
They put live crabs in a blender, add some male sex enhancers and some other stuff and voila! You get the modefoque.

His blog on the Travel Channel web site said that he loved mondongo and arepas. I think he ate it twice, which is amazing to me because I can't stand it. Best part is it was all filmed in the popular barrios of Medellín, so I can't wait to see him hiking up them hills.

For example, the food in Cali, Fritangas in Bogota, Hormigas culonas in Bucaramanga, Mamona in Villavicencio and the typical dishes from Barranquilla and the Coast in general.

I hope Anthony Bourdain shows the food from Cartagena as well; otherwise we have a very incomplete picture of Colombian gastronomy.
For instance, we will be missing tamales from Tolima, fritangas from Bogota, mamona from Villavicencio, all the great dishes from Cali and Barranquilla and why not, since they once in a while love to show the exotic or the weird, the ants or hormigas culonas from Bucaramanga.
I know I'm missing more good stuff from other cities...

Well, I loved it too and now I know where I'm going to go when visit Medellin. I'm shocked that paisas here never talked about these typical colombian restaurants, I know you had to some degree but the majority of them turned their faces the other way.
To be a complete picture of Colombia's gastronomy we need Bucaramanga, Tolima, Barranquilla, Bogota, Pasto, Villavicencio and other great places where they prepare great food.

yes i know where your coming from but i must say that overall i liked the show. yes he could have gone to much nicer places i agree. nevertheless i think what was exposed the most was what i love about my country. not the food and/or good looks of our woman but the charisma of our people, the genuine smiles in my peoples faces, and as it was discussed the true energy that comes from happiness after being so down, sad, and quite frankly real bad before.

I am not big on gastronomy. I eat very different, otherwise I would be posting wonderful restaurants, from all over Colombia. I also do not like to cook.

I love:..... platano asado, arepa de chocolo con quesito, patacones con ogao, sancocho, arroz con pollo. Me gusta mucho nuestra comida, pero no puedo comer muchas arinas.

He lives in that area
i've never seen any of his shows on colombia, he was the t one that brought it up once he saw my sombrero voltiao.
The guy fell in love with the colombian coast, especailly cartagena.

Eso ya lo sabemos que la comida colombiana no es el plato fuerte tuyo!
Pero creo que tenias un poco de razon sobre el documental de Anthony Bourdain porque le falto visitar otros puntos claves de la gastromia colombiana!!!
Como la cocina de Barranquilla, Villavicencio, Cali, Pasto, Tolima, Bogota aunque parece que el ya estuvo en Bogota pero no fue hacer un show sobre la cocina bogotana.
Aqui esta video que encontre ahora y todavia no esta el video de Medellin de ayer en youtube.
