Are Colombians concerned about 2012?

Dicen las malas lenguas que...

According to what I hear 2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar.
Are Colombians tuned into this and what is being planned?
Do Colombians respect the Mayan prophecies?
What do Colombians think will happen in 2012?

GIB, I agree with you that some brutal economic changes are on the horizon. World has reached "peak oil" and as oil production declines the countries more dependent on oil will have a rough time. Colombia will be better off than USA for example. Not to mention that Colombia does not have a group of people like Al Qaeda out to launch a nuclear attack on it. This is a definite advantage for Colombia.

I am an optimist when it comes to how humanity will confront the situation. Someday people will decide cooperation is better than conflict and peace will come to Colombia and the rest of the world.

Sliver says on May 5, 2005, 06:28:

huh? There's a lil' more to this... Well, first off: Not only the Bible Code and the Mayan Calendar see 2012 as the final date (of all dates, by the way...), but also ancient Chinese religion points out that in 2012, something BIG happens... what exactly, no one knows... but these are the scenarios that are plausible so far (and trust me, that stuff is plausible... I spend about 4 years now researching that stuff, and so far no one could disprove any of that stuff... see for yourself).

- The Aliens! Yep, that's what the mayans thought: That in 2012, the extraterrestials return that were already once here (if you believe the mayans and Erich von Däniken, which I do not... completely:)
- Extra-terrestial radiation: The most plausible one if ya ask me... every 26'000 years (and that's a fact from sience, not folklore), extra-terrestial radiation increases to a maximum level and accelerates (!!!) intellectual and physical evolution. That's what could also happen according to the "Time Wave Zero" theory, based on Chinese divinatory systems.
- World War how-many-did-we-already-have: Yep, always a possibility... yet, a war is a war and every war passes... also, don't believe that bullshit "we could nuke the planet this-and-this many times"... hell yeah you could, but could you nuke EVERY INCH and every living being? No way... something would survive and it would never be the "End of the World"... only "...as we know it", I guess...
- and the last & my favourite: The Meta-being, of which we all are part of (at least science just starts to aknowledge that there is in fact a thing such as a "collective sub-concious" of all living beings), finally awakens and starts to "act" (whatever that could be)... however, scientists believe that we may never be able to comprehend such a "being", like our body cells cannot recognise us as their "collective being". So we could only guess what would happen then...

... and of course there are about 10'000 other scenarios, but I guess it definitely will be a combo of several ones... how about the "Yellowstone Volcano"? If it errupts, you can just "write off" the US as well as Canada... and the world economy (which is, stupidly, based to a large part on american money).

Oh yeah, about that real stupid comment, in my oppinion:
"When the economy of the US goes in the toilet and they are no longer able to keep the world Peace and Russia and China join up to rule the world you will miss these days. Russia and China have been conducting joint exercises testing a plan to invade Taiwan, do you really think utopia is coming... jaja The US has kept the Peace for you for so long you know nothing else. I predict you will miss it in your life time."
by Mr. gringoinbogota. Well, I can say something about that: Which peace, please? The US has started more wars than any other country in the last 3 years, so please tell me AGAIN that that country is "upholding" peace? And what about the Irak? Now, they have about 5 times as many terrorist attacks as before the US-invasion (just read the paper, instead of rolling 'em!).
So in my oppinion, there is no greater THREAT than the US, because their keeping the tempers up, the weapons drawn and the gunpowder smoking all around the globe... do you really think that the muslim world would be so upset if the US is just on "a quest for freedom"? please, don't insult us!
Oh yeah, and I almost forgot to thank you on the behalf of all those dead spanish people from the madrid bombing: The americans are great at starting wars, but look who has to face the consequences! So don't talk to anybody about "keeping peace", that's definitely NOT what the US is doing and they are also responsible for what is going to happen in 2012!

But after all: "Peace sells... but who's buying"? Hope I could clear some of the confusion up... and yeah: The columbians don't have any special part in 2012, it's gonna affect everybody...
cya 'round!

and about that taiwan plan... ... and so what if the Russians and Chinese tried/planned to invade Taiwan? Even though that may be an evil plan, we might one day find out that their rule (at least Chinas) would end if they would not resort to violence that often (remember Tien an men? Same thing, Mao would have to leave office if he hadn't used violence).
But what about Iraq, Afghanistan, and what comes next? Is that something the US HAD to do or WANTED to do... I guess you could answer that yourself. And what about the puppet government in Panama? What about Chile, what about Cuba, hmm? I hope you get the point now...

2012 is when India becomes a Superpower... here's why.... Sources in the Government and UFO researchers opine like
America, India is on the verge of gaining military and
civilian technologies from extraterrestrial visitors!
Another major superpower?
Sumit Chatterjee, Special Correspondent
October 13, 2004

According to some UFO researchers and think-tanks all over
the world, India's recent experiences with countless UFO
near the Himalayas are significant. India is one of the
nations in the world with largest number of technocrats and
education is regarded as one of the major pride in every
Indian family. According some inner circles in the
Government and the defense establishments, India is on the
verge of gaining technologies for civilian and military
purposes from the extra-terrestrial cultures. Some strongly
feel India and America are the two champions of free speech
and democracy. And that is why they may have chosen India to
lead the world to the order of the Universe. According to
many the order of the Universe is to live peacefully, share
knowledge and be spiritually elevated. And India is just
ready to lead the world towards that. Which other nation can
gain futuristic technologies and not gobble up the world?

India's Air Force, Navy and Army will gain immensely from
these technologies. The main theme of these technologies is
anti-gravity driven vehicles and spatial motion control in
3D. Some say America thirty years back was offered vehicles
and spacecraft that ran based on anti-gravity. America's
biggest secret research is on that. The Stealth technology
that makes a flying vehicle invisible to radar or similar
electronic eyes is also from the extra-terrestrial know how,
researchers say.

India may gain immensely from these technologies and become
a super power. Indian technocrats and dedicated military
personnel will be able to harness these technologies and
bring peace to the world. India is probably the only country
that spiritually inclined. That makes a big difference.
Those who have a close encounter with extra-terrestrial
being say they are spiritually elevated and the energy
levels are very high from those beings. It is also said that
final frontier of science and technology will come from
integration of human spirituality and modern science and
technologies.

India is also learning about the order of Universe - the
common courtesy and the law of the Universe. Some say year
2012 is when they will land on earth. And for that matter
India is one of the chosen countries for pilot projects.

It is not the end of the world, it is the end of the calendar... And some interpret it as the end of a process of acceleration of evolving consciousness until 2012, when we will transform into peaceful beings. What this means on a practical day-to-day level is that the FARC and AUC and FAC will all be working together toward improving the paradise that Colombia is. "La pobreza absoluta" will be no more. There will be an ecological consciousness that will preserve Colombia as a paradise for generations to come.

They might decide not to spend it. They might decide to share it!

How about historical events? Cause and effect are uncertain with so many variables, so debating the consequences of historical events (like the assassination of Gaitan and the Bogotazo) must be bullshit, too?

So, debating the future (2012) and debating the past is all bullshit anyway.

How about the present? Are things as they appear? Or is that senseless to debate, too?

Yet this board is full of observations, questions, answers about Colombia. Is it all bullshit, Mario? What is not bullshit? I need to know so I don't waste any time on it and can direct myself to non-bullshit discussion.

Sliver says on May 12, 2005, 02:16:

A little strange... ...why should no one know, foxylady? Actually, we DO know (that's why we're telling... aren't we?)! And it's people going "uh, let's just have faith in god, sit back, enjoy life and do like we did year after year after..." you see where you're going with that f*ç?ìng attitude? If you don't try to make a difference, no one will (because most our ancestors just where the same "let's put our feet up and have a nice one! We can't change anything, it's always been like this, blablabla" and that's why we're in this mess in the first place!).
Oh yeah, just to comment your argument "we might not even make it to 2012": Well, since I KNOW that something COULD happen, I CAN in fact see to it that I live to that day...
Dude, it makes me sick, those people that think they can change nothing and thus do nothing (ever thought about you being "part of the problem"?). Fact is, mankind shaped this world for 10'000 years now and you tell me that we can't do nothing? Well, that's the oppinion of someone that has given up already or is only intrested what he can hold in his hands or stuff in his pocket.
No, tell you this; You can and do make a difference, on what small scale however, but it IS a difference (no preaching here). And god or religion won't help you with this since this is NOT the "next-best prophecy" from the "next-best madman", it's scientists, people with Nobel Prices, people that spend almost an entire life on that matter! Not some religious freak who sees this as an opportunity to make money or gain influence, as I already wrote (okay, there'll surely be the random preacher who picks up on this and tries to shape it to his advantage, but you can work against these people by simply spreading the knowledge! If everybody knows about it, then no one can claim an "absolute truth" for himself to enslave others with this "knowledge", as it was and is the case with any religion). At least I ain't seeing no dollar out of it...
You should be able to smell the bacon when it's cooking. You've got the unique chance of knowing what's coming (or at least a very good "maybe" chance, since there are several possibilities for 2012), and I for one do not intend to let this pass me by!
Also, don't make the mistake and believe that this world is "final". Countries can crumble to pieces, governments can be overthrown and natural desasters can shape the world around us (look up "Yellowstone Volcano" at google, for example... you'll see...). We always think, there'll be a China, a Russia, a USA or a Colombia for ever, but could well turn out to be wrong (colombian people sure must have a better idea about how it feels when your world is turned upside down from one day to the next).
And about "God will take care of the rest": Well, even in the bible it says, to have the religous side included as well, that you cannot just sit down and wait in the grass for food to fall out of the trees. It says that you have to work hard (even sweat!) for food and clothing, so I guess God would be the last one to tell you "just sit down and let me do what I do best" or what (that's actually a question, would be intrested to see whatcha all thinking about that).
Sorry guys if I sound a little "preachy" here, but I think this is REALLY a big, serious event (and I, for one, do NOT believe every armaggedon-scenario I hear, so don't think I'm judging this lightly)... as written before, I spend over 4 years thinking about this and collecting facts... or what I believe to be facts, you never know... but so far, I have not come across even ONE COUNTERPROOF that was based on science! In fact, in case of the bible code, it is, without any mathemathical doubt, proven that it's real and that the system does not work in any other book except! Same goes for "Time Wave 0" or "Time Wave 1"; Hasn't been disproven, in fact it is getting updated! And I guess I don't have to tell you about the Mayan calendar (which is, in fact, the weakest hint so far since it only gives you a date).
So much for "just ignoring" these facts. I hope we can bring some people to REALLY think about this and what we could do to better things until 2012... because in my oppinion, nothing is ever "fixed" and we can shape the future that's coming, even change it completely... so either you're the one who's shaping, or you'll be shaped.
