For anyone who cares I have this to contribute. I went thru the normal procedure of sending out I130 applications and then shortly after sending out an I129F application for purpose of getting a K-3 visa for my wife and K-4 for her daughter.
I was surprised yesterday to receive approval of I130 petitions before approval of I129F. Upon talking to INS at 800 number I was advised to write Chicago and have them to cancel I129F petition and send them copies of
I-797s. Paperwork es now at NVC in New Hampshire. Was told that after approval at interview in Bogota my wife and child would be given IR3 visas.

utopiacowboy says on May 17, 2006, 07:46: You're right. The IR3 visas are a lot better than the K-3/K-4 they would have gotten. Be aware, however, that the NVC process for IR or CR visas is a lengthy one unlike the K visas. The NVC does very little with K visas and the embassy takes care of the visa payment and the Affidavit of Support. In the case of IR/CR visas the NVC takes care of all of that so you will be sending papers back and forth with them for a couple of months. I don't fault your decision however. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

He also suggested I send along copies of all 797s. Suggest you call and ask about it for your own belief of this, 800-375-5283.
