Apocalipsur/Film & Video fest in Quindio

The festival seems to have returned to it's disorganization and lack of good films like 2 years ago. They semi-premiered "Apocalipsur", what a piece of shit. Badly shot, drugs from the get-go and the director had a discusion of how he made the film - a 20 minute video of dopey behind-the-scenes footage - what a waste of time. so far I went to two events and both had scheduling problems.

What gets me is that another memeber of the cinematography council (I'm one) here in El Quindio is the director of the fest. All I hear these guys do is bitch and moan about the violent, drug movies coming out of Colombia. So what do they do? Kick off the fest with one - dopes. Turns out THEY DIDN'T EVEN SEE IT!!! - double dopes. AND special guest for the next couple days is Victor Gaviria, the guy who made "Rodrigo D. No Futuro" and "La Vendedora de las Rosas" and "La Virgen de los Sircarios". All Colombian movies that capitalize on the shitty image.

I have way more hope for the shorts they are showing the next few days. Felipe Moreno, the guy who runs/presents "El Espejo", which is a short film show I believe on a local Bogotá channel, will be showing some stuff. Cool guy, the show puts on some real beginner stuff, but worth a look. He gives everyone a chance.

Last year was awesome, showing "La Sombra del Caminante" - bufalo gives it two thumbs up! Percentage-wise it was technically the most succesful colombian film of the year due to its low budget - but how many actually saw it????

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAand I just got back from another event. I happened to stop by at 7:40 at it still didn't start, supposed to at 7. People were complaining, but then reminded that it was a free event. True, but please how dificult is it to put a DVD in a machine and hit play?

concertazo for kids was interesting, and only 20 minutes late. But hey, they had an orchestra of school children so it's a given.
