Aparta Hotel Del Rio in Cali

Has anyone stayed at this hotel before? I will be going back to Cali in February and my novia suggested it. She said it is very near a police station so she thought it would be safe for her gringo.

Anyone know that part of town?

I have stayed there.. has very good room, reminds me of hilton hotels. Cost last june was 90-100k per night, price incl breakfast. They have different type of rooms. You can walk to aviedna sexta during day, but recommend taking taxi at night. Also, if you stay there a week, you can negoitable a little better rate. They dont charge extra for guest(ie, GF) overnight.

Thanks caslug.

I believe it was sonny that mentioned Duggers & green. Anyone else stayed there before? Is that in the north part of Cali?

fzrdan Can you give me the information for this hotel. I am going to Colombia on February 16 to 21 and I was checking hotels. I was looking at the Intercontinental, Raddison, Sheraton and Torre de Cali. Intercontinental = $130.00 USD a night, Sheraton = $110.00 USD a night they are both in the north part of Cali.

Thank you,

Peter Miami

Intercontinental.. personally, i didn't like the location. It's across the river in Cali on the non avendia side of town.. You can't walk around the area, the hotel itself is very nice and upscale, but you'll need to use taxis all the time, even in the day. I can't imagine paying $100 USD for a hotel in Cali, you can get a US equilavent 4 star for $35-50. Now most other hotels don't have pool and such or their not as nice.

Peter Miami I don't know much information. My novia recommended because it is in a relatively safe part of the city, close to fun spots (avienda sexta) and close to her house. caslug has stayed there and had good things to say.

I can't find much info for the place on the net, only the basic contact info:

Aparta Hotel del Rio

Four Points by Sheraton I was just in Cali and I stayed at the Sheraton and I recommend it. It is only a couple of blocks off of Sexta. The service was excellent and I got a rate of $66.00 USD when I booked via the internet. The website is:

www.starwoodhotels.com.

Hotel in Cali Anyone traveling to Cali should check out Cali Plaza; (Some information here copied from Cali Plaza website: www.CaliPlaza.com. Cali Plaza is an Apartment/Condominium building with Rental Suites. It is American Owned and one of the most convenient locations in Cali:
Over 50 Restaurants, Bars, and Discotecs within walking distance. 3 ATM’s within 1/2 block. Travel Agencies, Grocery and Convenience Stores, and Laundries nearby. Almost everything you need within walking distance. Cali Plaza is ideally located in the middle of the Tourist and Entertainment District of Sixth Avenue in Cali, ...also located a few blocks from Downtown and Business District. (Check out their photo section at CaliPlaza.com and you can view the rooms and see the convenience of their location.) The website is in English.

Most everyone visiting Cali, visits Sixth Avenue; ... Staying in the middle of this area is convenient, plus saves time and money spent on transportation.

Cali Plaza Administrator and Owner both speak English, therefore many Americans hang out there. ... For any of you wanting marriage visas or information, Gonzalo Services is also located in Cali Plaza. They do more visas in Cali, than anyone else.
