Hello everyone
We had our AOS interview today and it went really well.
We arrived at 9:40 for our 10:15 appointment. At 10:15 the interviewer took us to his office and there he made us swear we weren't going to say lies.
He asked us:
- How we met
- How was the wedding
- Dates of the wedding
- If I had been out of the country since the wedding.
- If I didn't belong to the comunist party, etc etc.
Then he said... Ok Mrs Tanner you are now a Permanent Resident with conditions (or something like that). He stamped my passport and say I'll receive my card within the next 10 days.
And that's it... :)
Thanks for the advicing!
Silvia

utopiacowboy says on Mar 20, 2006, 14:31: The reason for the I-551 stamp in the passport is to be able to prove you are a green card holder until the green card itself shows up. In my wife's case, the green card did not show up until 2 months after the interview. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

silviat says on Mar 21, 2006, 13:18: thanks for the info utc yeah the guy said the stamp is valid for 2 months so if it takes as long as it took for your wife then we're all set.

utopiacowboy says on Mar 21, 2006, 18:15: I don't know. Theoretically everyone is entitled to the stamp (if they are approved) but I think they just forget to do it sometimes. rjstuff says on Mar 22, 2006, 09:24: Its sporadic. from reading many details on Visa Journey it seems that some offices stamp the passports and some don't; some will do it if you ask for it others will not even when asked. I have also read of several people getting an infopass appointment and getting the stamp, when the Green card didn't arrive and they needed the stamp to travel or for employment. For some of us it really doesn't make a difference. I had a stamp in my passport and then it expired and I got a new passport and never even thought about the stamp - I used the Green card for reentry.

divina22 says on Mar 24, 2006, 14:17: Hey silvia I had to change my login name because I was being stalked by some jealous person.... you and I have chatted before on other discussions here in the "All About Visas" forum...... I was the one asking questions about college credits from Colombia to here and about my fiance volunteering while he waited for his EAD...... I would say my old login but they can search and find it easily.... it sucks but what I have to do so no one knows my business!
