I am not by any means a newbie to Colombia. I've been to Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Bogota, and surrounding areas numerous times..... but I'm going to be in Cali in Febuary for the first time and wanted to hear from a few veterans of the area. I've heard that overall the city is not quite as safe as some of the other larger cities...ie. Bogota/Cartagena...any opinions?

Man Tequila says on Dec 5, 2007, 11:52: I'm interested in this too. I'm thinking about going to the Feria de Cali, which I know would be lots of riotous fun. Anyone been? Is the atmosphere and good times worth the hassles in terms of safety, accommodation, chaotic holiday transport? Aunque no me creas/ si me lo propongo/ lograre olvidarte/ porque a fin de cuentas/ no soy tan cobarde./ Y termino todo una de estas tardes/ no sera dificil buscar algún sitio donde refugiarme/ donde nunca mas vuelvas a encontrarme. nbenjamin says on Dec 5, 2007, 21:19: Cali for the Feria, was the best time of my life (PERIOD). People say medellin has the most beautiful women, no way, I go to Medallo all the time, I have a young beautiful Piasita out there but for women no question it is CALI. CAli is a joke. I am from Los Angeles - but it cannot hold a candle to Cali. That place is a joke. I felt safe the hole time I was there and had no problem. But being safe is more about how smart a traveller you are. But get in touch with Art brode - he is out there and he keeps it pretty street.

john_stark says on Dec 6, 2007, 19:47: Depends on the kind of chicks you like. For me, Medellin wins hands down for its women with pale skin and long straight jet black hair. That's my type.

travelingirl says on Dec 6, 2007, 19:54: Wow, men actually like pale skin? Who are you? Where do you live? Why can't I get people around me to realize this? lol I'm seriously, the palest person I know.

john_stark says on Dec 6, 2007, 19:56: What I love is the contrast between the pale skin and that absolutely jet black hair. It's a common look for many Medellin women.
