Anyone have SKYPE?

I just downloaded and tested it, but I'd like to call someone to make sure it works - but I don't know anyone that has it!

Reason I need to test it is that my wife is going to be defending her thesis using it (see 2 posts down), soooooooooooooooooooo it would be a good thing if I have it up and running well.

Anyone want a call from bufalo?

I have tried to contact Skype but never get an answer. I know the going rates to all places around the world, but can the rates to any nation would the same regardless of where I am in the world?

I did the test call and it worked, but since it is for my wife's thesis defense, I'd rather make sure it worked 100% before she has 7 people from the university's board impatiently waiting while we figure out what may be wrong.... that wouldn't be too cool. From this post I got to talking ot someone last night, works fine, just need to check the video portion out.

Skype works good in bogota and medellin. Except for the time we had the 4 hour power outage through most of colombia. Then we had the 50% internet capacity wiped out by a under sea cable problem that lasted 4 days.

good news is that now more international internet connections are being added faster, and now the government and the monolipies here realized the importance of redunancy.

It is quite possible to run a business in colombia and not even tell your clients that your in colombia.

Check out Vonage as well. I dont use it but i have friends that do.

Calling to another person with skype is clearer. Calling a phone line in colombia has more static, than calling a person with a usa SKYPE phone number.

Buy a usa skype number if your running a busines.
