My experience was fantastic! I got Lasik in Colombia for only $750....for both eyes!

And remember, contrary to what some self-hating, anti-Colombian POS on these boards say, Lasik was INVENTED in Colombia! Spread the word!

Francijoe, did you also have yours done at 'La Clinica de Oftamologia' in Cali?

You would just need to take the day of the procedure off and maybe the following morning (assuming all goes well).

Francisjoe,

Do you remember who operated you? My doctor was Jaime Velazquez. I remember he only took like ten minutes to do both my eyes!

I did it 2 years ago, Andres Rosas was the doctor in Bogota, very good before during and after the surgery. I got it at 9 am, rested all day and was back to work next day by noon. Reading or working on the computer was a bit hard at first but the eyes get used to the new vision pretty quickly so that was not a problem. Doc explained that the brain is used to not seeing well so it takes a minute for it to get it and see well again -as well as the normal recovery time.

PM for his info, it was 2 million for both eyes. My wife got it too around the same time, she is doing very good too, same doctor in Bogota, she ended up with 130% vision so after pregnancy although she lost some of her vision, she is still at 110%. Follow ups were excellent, I just went for my yearly and he did it gladly and at no charge.

I used Harold Frydel San Diego Clinic Medellin for occular lens replacement in both eyes. Cost me about the same as if I had had the complicated lasix procedure required becuase of my astigmatism in USA. I am totally satisfied and free from probaby ever needing glasses or lasik again. He speaks english and his staff and the operating room staff were great.
His number is on a previous post of mine.

Remember, you can't wear contact lenses from 1- 2 weeks before surgery! They mis-shape your eyes, kinda like when you wake up with wrinkles on your face from the bed, but the wrinkles stay longer on your eyes (best way I can describe it)...I had no idea of this and of course only contacts except for my military glasses...it was a brutal two weeks at work!

The first corrective eye surgery was done in Colombia, but it was not Lasik.

I had my eyes done where Simon and Francijoe had their's done. Did not get perfect vision buy I have presbyopsy which complicates eye surgery.

Wow....

I can"t believe nobody has mentioned Superlasik. It's a better laser. The only reason people still have Lasik is because the doctors paying off that machine still push it... why settle for less than the best? Get the Superlasik!

I did it. My vision was amazing 12 hours later...

Fernando83 says on Dec 2, 2009, 19:25:

I'm guessing by super lasik you mean wavefront lasik....
Not everyone qualifies for this. I had my right eye done with wavefront and the left one done just lasik...I had to get up and move to the other machine (about 4 feet away) during my procedure.

I wanted both eyes done with wavefront...but my left eye wouldn't pass the wavefront test, even after three tests. I was the first for the Doc (in getting up and switching machines) out of thousands of procedures he had done...felt unique!

Wavefront to me is better because there is no vision test like with glasses (which if you think about it is your idea of perfection vision)....basically the machine sends a wave through your eye, sees all the imperfections and the laser corrects it. The machine is giving you a perfectly shaped cornea according to the wavefronts it received...no input from me was needed (vision exam) at least for the right eye.

You are right though, they push lasik (at least in the us) because they're trying to payoff their machines. My Doc had both machines to payoff! BTW, it was in Central Florida.

Have any of you that had the lasik had a problem at night with glare or a star type glare at night?
I know someone that is fine during the day but at night has this problem..
Interestingly this one I know was done here in the US...

Fernando...

Yes indeed, I'm talkin about the radar version you are talking about... I certainly understand that not everybody can qualify. But most do... and it's simply a safer, more accurate instrument. It didn't cost me anymore than Lasik would have... and this was in 2004!

Folks... start there. Superlasik is the way to go, and yes, it can be found in Bogotá.

Fernando83 says on Dec 3, 2009, 08:00:

Yeah I would suggest Superlasik or wavefront lasik rather than regular lasik anytime!

Scumbuster, the only thing I've noticed are dry eyes when I'm getting tired and very seldom when the ceiling fan is on, a problem I never had before. Is it bad enough not to bare...NO WAY!
BTW, I read this some where that this is common for people with lasik procedures....Not sure if I'm spelling it right, but lesik (almost the same spelling as lasik accept for one letter) is better for not gettting dry eyes.
I recommend some research before doing anything.
