Anyone from Cucuta ??????????

My wife has family there, they are about to lose their lease and need to find a 2-3 bedroom house or apartment. They are telling us that they can't find anything for under 500.000 pesos! I can't believe that Cucuta is bexcoming so expensive. We pay for an apartment for another relative in Bogota, 3 bedroom for 175.000 peso.

Any ideas or just some info on the current housing market in Cucuta. Would consider just purchasing a home as investment for them to live in. If paying out this kind of money, might as well buy.

Would appreciate your comments.

I live in Pamplona, which is 40 minutes way. My wife tells me they should be able to find something cheaper then 500,000. Here, it is very easy to find a apartment for less.

I would think so, just checking. They have tried to tell us that only the really bad neighborhoods are cheaper. Telling us that the para military hide out in those areas?

I want them safe, but not putting them up in the Ritz, u know?

hey, Cucuta is getting really bad. They are not misleading you, but I am sure they can find something.

We are going there in Decembre, ok for gringo? I don't look like typical gringo, but don't need any problems if I don't have to.

Just going for 2 days then back to wonderful Bogota.

I spent a week there, and I'm as gringo as you come, with limited spanish at the time. I had no problems, and travelled across the venezuelan border twice a day. I'm not saying it's a safe place, but just telling you I spent a week there with no issues.

Hello There!
I just wanted to say hello and that all of the things that one goes through, visiting south America, can be interperted differenely, and one thing for sure, is that all citie's in this world, are different and could be dangerous, Los Angeles, New York, and etc., but nevertheless, if one peron, all people just take care of there business, and not act as though they are from another country that may have money, all is well, Just Maby Beeeeeeee!

Sorry you felt as thought you were in danger.
