Anyone bought a pair of Niggaz Jeans?

If you live in Medellin and take the metro regularly, you have probably seen the sign too. This wouldn't fly in the US and A I take it, but the American slang N-word doesn't have the same impact here.

That despicable (US) AMERICAN word does NOT exist in Colombia, thank goodness!

they're right, jon, someone posted before regarding these jeans. (simon, the word ixists now in medallo, as i've heard about these jeans before here on pbh. pity) however, i do think the idea is not without redemption and is potentially a big money maker. world wide...the way the world is into rap, regge, regeton. 'we's widdas and niggas, we are' a whole bunch of us so the pant's logo is a bit the common denominator (did i spell that right?)

how much do they cost? can you post an advertisement, i'd like to see their promotion images. pant's desidn, business/advertising art, etc.

Fralph, you caught me. I am an advertiser who is associated with the Niggaz jeans company - this is far more likely than me being a tourist who happened to be amused at a strange billboard sign. I am also associated with mangosteen producers, because I inquired about how to acquire those fruits. My entire existence on PBH is just viral marketing.

"High Court Justice Mary Gaudron said "nigger" on the sign was no more offensive than the word "pinky" on a cement mixer."

I am normally not a very PC person, but this judge has her head pretty far up her ass. I understand the history behind the sign, but it is still pretty offensive.

The most derogative name for a company-just like the cocaine energy drink that came out.

That word is still the reason for some strain in race relations in parts of the us-yet here you have it-in s. America a brand name with niggazs on it all in the name of a buck and some dumbasses who slap the label on cheap made demin just goes to show how much of a dumbass you can be to make money and piss people off.

PBHjon says on Sep 18, 2008, 15:29:

I think its hilarious that this moronic company purchased such a large banner, but didn't pay the $7 to renew their domain name mentioned in the ad! Idiots. If they don't renew it in the next month or so, they will lose the domain. Maybe their company doesn't even exist anymore.

As a point of reference, the above-posted sign from Flickr is a shot I took in Medellin and included in my blog. It was taken from the West end of the second floor platform at the San Antonio Metro station where you transfer to the train towards the stadium. It's quite prominent if you look North from the train.

The blog entry is here, if anyone cares. Stuff about going to a death metal concert in Medellin and spending an evening in Parque Periodista in Centro where some dude told me god was going to kill me and all the gringos:

It's on the Cartoon Network, on Adult Swim late at night, don't know if you can get that at all in Colombia. It's an animated version of the comic strip, by the same guy, only much much more raw.
