PCL--last time I was at Isla Canaria on 27th ave, they served me spoiled fish 3 times. I kept asking for a new order, they kept bringing me a new order of bad fish. lol. That was hasta la vista for me and Isla Canaria on 27th ave. I like the other Isla Canaria better that's on 137 av and bird road in Kendall. The Best Cuban Restaurant for me, for the money, is the Little Habana restuarant located on 128 ave and Biscayne Blvd here in North Miami. The only really angry Cubans here in Miami over the Juanes Concert are the Mambisa Watch, made up of a group of mostly old Radical Extreme Right Wing Looney Tooners known as the Vigilia Mambisi. . Generally, any of those Nuts that hang out at the Versaille Restauarant on Calle 8---all Nuts. This same group, Vigilia Mambisa, firebombed a fellow Cuban's restaurant(same neighborhood) a few years back for calling for Dialogue with Castro.

PCL--my biggest problem with the Miami Cuban exiles is that instead of staying and fighting for the Island, Freedom and Way of Life, they packed it in and ran off to Miami. Had they stayed and fought the good fight 40 years ago, the Juanes concert of Today would be a Non-Issue,,,

MM... you know and I know you cant get a seat in Isla Canaria during lunch time.. packed wall to wall Cubans and they will not stand for BAD Cuban food whatsoever, and as far as ANYTHING being spoiled at Isla Canaria.. even though it might be true in your situation to me it almost sounds blasphemous.. Just hit any La Carreta then,, cant go wrong..

Yes, I agree MM, but they had the opportunity to get out of a dire, grave situation in Cuba to try and make a better life for themselves here in Miami and many have done just that.

PCL--Well my order was spoiled and I'm not a particular overly critical diner. My Peruvian lady friend was very critical and unloaded on the waitress. lol. The Fish was so bad it had that spoiled Smell, didn't even need to taste it. Now we go mostly to Peruvian Eateries when we go out for meal--problem solved. lol The name of the Spolied dish/fish was Cherna. LA Carreta---no way, not since I found out that that the Owner of the Versaille also is the the owner of La Carreta, another right wing Nuthouse. Too many other good restaurants in the area.

I agree many have done that, come to Miami. However by doing this, they relinquished there rights on the Island. Just as the Italians, Polish, Slovakians did after WW2 when they left and immigrated from their Homelands. The US Flag became their Flag. Someday when you have time to see what I am telling you is true, take a ride thru Calle 8 or Hialeah on the 4th of July/Veteran's Day or Memorial day and tell me how many American Flags you see displayed honoring our Veterans and War Dead. I'll bet you my last Dollar the only ones you see are flying from Car Lots, police/fire stations or from the Pancake Houses. Incredible,,, After We gave them everything when they came here,,,I guess I'm a leftover from another era where issues like this were considered relevant and Patriotic.
