Anybody else in Cali right now?

I love this city, the great shopping centers, the cool breeze, the gorgeous women, and fun nightclubs. I can't wait for the Feria to begin. Let the dancing and drinking begin! Who else is currently around here?

I just came back from Cali. I am American and live in Armenia and we went to buy some Christmas presents this weekend. We went to the mall on the north side. Sorry I cannot pronounce the mall's name. Chipicapie or something like that. It was fantastic. We stayed overnight at a wonderful small hotel close by. Food was ok...nothing special. Weather was warm with a little rain. Stay away from Centro and any bus in Cali. Centro is by far the most disgusting filthy place I have ever seen and the buses are all crappy, dirty, smelly polluters.

Overall Cali is a grade C from what I saw. Shoping is great but that is all. Women there are no better looking than any other city in Colombia and certainly not all that gorgeous. In fact, I did not see any that stood out at all.

If you are going to cali for the women you will be disappointed. Better off in Bogota, Categena, or Bumanga

I'm flying down in a few days for the Feria.

Rikito... I agree, Cali is not an attractive city, but the people are generally friendly, and there are definitely good-looking women, but you have to look a bit harder for them then some other cities.

car1, I am having difficulty understanding what you wrote. But, all I said is the women that I saw last weekend in Cali (and I surely did not see them all) were no more attractive than everywhere else in Colombia. I was mostly in the north around one shopping center. There were many attractive women but I don't think there is a place in Colombia that has the MOST attractive women. Many cities and places have beautiful women. But I did not see anyone in Cali that would make me wake up in the morning with my skin so tight I couldn't open my eyes.

Also, if you golf in Cali you must have a lot of money and be part of the elite class because that is all that is allowed to play in Colombia since all the golf courses are private country clubs that cater to the rich upper class. Maybe Cali is different..

And I did not say that all of Cali looked like shit. I said the Centro area was the most disgusting area I have ever seen. It was filthy with dirty, polluting old buses all over, noisy and uncontrolled. There was trash all over and the streets were horrible to drive on. I stand by what I said and so have many others that I talked to. I have been told (and I am not saying that I said this) that many people are leaving Cali because of the increasing violence and open drug trade. I can tell that where I live in Armenia several families have moved here because the quality of life in Cali has gone down. Don’t know if it is true or not, but these people had “Cali on their car plates.

That's my opinion and my opinion only and if you don't like it that's ok too! Everyone has different tastes. At least I do not write the English language in here like a shit salesman full of samples. Read and understand the entire post before you make foolish comments. Someone asked about Cali and I gave them my opinion.

And there are many places in the US that would make Cali Centro look like heaven.

I must admit that Cali right now is unfortunately very ugly and dirty. Hopefully things will get better under the new mayor.

Thanks for sugar coating your view of Cali.
Who can attack you for being honest?
At least I know what to expect once I arrive.... thanks!

Nueva, let me be honest about one more thing. In my experiences in Colombia, regardless of whether or not something is nice or not you just cannot beat the warmth, openness, and wonderfully friendly attitude of Colombians. As I have said before, I have been in many cities and countries, but I have never met such wonderful people as I have here. That's what you can expect when you arrive in Cali or anywhere else.

When you return home it will be difficult for you to describe how special most Colombians are.

Now, ... don't get lost 'gringo head-hunting' in the new extensions of de chipechape mall, there. jaj

In Cali last weekend...251 accidents, 7 dead, 70 injured. Sounding more like Detroit on a quiet weekend.

The Chipechape mall is by far the biggest and best Mall I have ever been in. And the customer service is incredible.

Go and enjoy. Stay clear of the obvious places where shit happens. The night life in any of the Colombian principle cities is exciting especially on weekend and holidays. Just bring some raincoats.

Raincoats? In Cali? People don't wear raincoats in Cali when it rains, they just carry an umbrella. It's too warm for a raincoat.
