So past posts refer to traveling to the Bahia Solano/Nuqui stretch of coast either by plane from Medellin or by boat from Buenaventura. I'm wondering about a third option though. There must be buses from Quibdo right? I have no doubt it would be a brutal ride, but I'm just wondering if anyone has done it or might know approximately how long it is and how much it costs. Any help would be much appreciated.

gorgonabob says on Sep 12, 2008, 07:28: i had great plans six years ago to go to nuqui/ bahia solano overland from quibdo thinking there was a road going almost all the way there.. i took a bus to quibdo from medellin.... and then bought a machete and some supplies and wandered around town looking for a guide... everyone thought i was taking the piss.. pretty funny.. turned out there is no chance in hell to do that trek and when you get a flight from quibdo to the coast you see why... i took the bus again to quibdo from medellin three years back... i would not recommend this trip.. our bus was stopped by dozens of guerillas.. the area a few kms out of quibdo is absolutely crawling with guerillas.. just last week a police outpost was attacked and a couple of cops were killed. they constantly burn buses and kidnap people... its the wild west out there.
