Any info on Quibdo to Bahia Solano/Nuqui by bus?

So past posts refer to traveling to the Bahia Solano/Nuqui stretch of coast either by plane from Medellin or by boat from Buenaventura. I'm wondering about a third option though. There must be buses from Quibdo right? I have no doubt it would be a brutal ride, but I'm just wondering if anyone has done it or might know approximately how long it is and how much it costs. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ah, also, this would be for a hypothetical trip unfortunately during the (peak priced) Xmas/New Years period, so especially if anyone has any info on prices at that time, that would be great.

August - try this: looks like a route has been planned. But is it ready?

i had great plans six years ago to go to nuqui/ bahia solano overland from quibdo thinking there was a road going almost all the way there.. i took a bus to quibdo from medellin.... and then bought a machete and some supplies and wandered around town looking for a guide... everyone thought i was taking the piss.. pretty funny.. turned out there is no chance in hell to do that trek and when you get a flight from quibdo to the coast you see why... i took the bus again to quibdo from medellin three years back... i would not recommend this trip.. our bus was stopped by dozens of guerillas.. the area a few kms out of quibdo is absolutely crawling with guerillas.. just last week a police outpost was attacked and a couple of cops were killed. they constantly burn buses and kidnap people... its the wild west out there.

ive also done the boat ride (25 hours) up from buenaventura to bahia solano.. thats a great trip.. out on the ocean sleeping up on top deck spotting whales chatting with the weird locals...

also flyed there a few times from medellin, normally about 450.000 pesos return.

the govt has long standing plans to build a decent road from medellin to the pacific coast.. but that may be several decades away.... they also are planning a road conecting bahia solano with nuqui.. have already started paving the bit from bahia solano to nuqui.

if you want to check out my webpage about bahia solano go to this page.

the pacific coast is a fantastic wild place...

tomass, that's a pretty decent map there you tracked down, thank you.

gorgonabob, solid info there my friend. Your info in past posts has been a good resource for me in contemplating these plans. Lemme ask you though, I like the boat from Buenaventura idea and I was a pretty big fan of the cargo boat ride from Panama's Kuna Yala to the Caribbean border with Colombia, but the thing is I'm planning to make this Bahia Solano/Nuqui trip with my ladyfriend. Now she's kind of a tough Choco-born, Medellin-raised type, but I thought the cargo boat from Panama would have been a dodgy place for a chick, would that also be your assessment of the Buenaventura to Nuqui boats?

I don't recommend you bus it there, it can be done, but that area is not that safe, yet.

I have great info on where to stay. Contact me.
