Anthony Bourdain in Colombia, airs Monday, 14 July on the Travel Channel

His show is called "No Reservations." It's probably the only good show on that crappy channel. He's a brilliant guy. Check it out!

"Colombia -- Premieres Monday, July 14, at 10 p.m. ET

Until several years ago even Anthony Bourdain wouldn't dream of visiting Colombia. But with the murder rate lower than most U.S. cities, a thriving food scene and a government that has established education as No.1, Colombia is a must see!"

Thanks Tolu, ...as someone that has mostly diined in the best restaurants in the world (especially in Paris, Lyon & NYC), I beleive that Bogota, as all of Colombia, is a culineray Mecca! ...and just imagine; no chemicals or preservetaives !
In the past, I would have been so happy about this show being broadcast, but now, after what I have seen my fellow Americnas do with their tourist-dollars when they travel abroad, I am not so sure. Anyway, I am certain that Colombia(ns) can overcome anything, so bravo for Bourdain!
P.S; I wonder how many of oyu have eated at Leo Cocina & Cava, Balzac or Acacias (in Bogota)?

mononoke,
Well, now that you mention it, I like a couple shows on that network. The one where they take five strangers around the world was good.

And you're welcome!

Hola!

Less than one week to go!

I expect his show will go past the candy coating or the overhyping scene that I saw with GlobeTrekker!

Remember, he will be using words inappropriate for children!

Crap, I don't think my colombian version of the travel channel will show it on that day, I'll probably have to wait at least 6 months for it.

You have to like tony.

"I can't think of another country where the No Reservations crew has been welcomed so enthusiastically everywhere we went. Absolutely everybody we met seemed delighted and proud that we'd come to point our cameras at them. And we were allowed and enabled, I should point out, to point them any damn where we pleased. Someone less...forgiving in temperament, less zen-like than me might feel tempted to point out to some other tourist boards the wisdom of letting us go and do whatever we want--no matter how uncomfortable the official organs might be about some of our interests--compared to the result when officialdom tries to "manage" what we see and don't see. . As it turned out, it was the uncontrollable elements, the poor fishermen, the inner city market workers, the residents of the neighborhood in Medellin with the very worst reputation who did their country most proud."

"What you might not know about Colombia is that it's beautiful. That the food is really good--with the same kind of fantastic mix of African, European and indigenous influences that makes Brazilian cuisine so interesting and vibrant. That they actually like Americans down there."

"Colombia. Vacation Wonderland? Yes. Absolutely"

and much more read the article.
