Hey everybody, Hope you all are good.
I have a simple question I hope a few of you can help me with.
I am in Medellin now with my fiance.
We have been trying to get married here for the past 2 months.
One brick wall after another.
After much mis-information from several notarias here.fedexing my documents from Medellin to bogata to U.S. in circles, plus dealing with das for my extensions(stay away from the short ,fat woman at the DAS office here in Medellin, trust me).
I know realize I need to return to the U.S., get my documents apostlled again, send them to her in colombia and we can get married in absentism.
We have already signed all the documents needed to do this here in Medellin, all that is needed now is me to return home and fedex the docs to her.
Anyway, My question:
Can anyone tell me a website where I can get all the info I need on her getting a spousal visa after we are married. We plan on living in the U.S. for now.
There has got to be a site out there that tells you step by step the correct procedure.
Also for those of you with experience in the visa procedure,Do you think it may be better for me to hire a colombian lawyer to help her with the process?
It it can save us time and headaches I will be willing to pay a lawyer a few hundred american to help us.
Thanks , Everybody take care, kevin.

I've always wondered just how you would prove this last point. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Michael B says on Sep 27, 2005, 17:00: Hire a lawyer? No If you and she are both litterate and can follow instructions, a lawyer (in Colombia or in the US) is an unecessary expense and could even cause delay. That is, assuming you have a 'straight case'....no undisolved marriages hanging over either of you, no criminal problems, if there are children-who has custody?....it's darn near impossible to get children out of Colombia without the consent of BOTH parents. BTW, you asked for a website that explains the process? Try this: http://uscis.gov/graphics/index.htm
