Another Invitation

Several months ago I invited PBHers to come for a visit to Somondoco. There was no interest at that time. Before the rainy season really kicks in I extend another invite. If you guys and gals want to come for the day or overnight if not too many come. I will supply Coca Cola and a grill. If there is a wish to have me do so I will buy beef here and you can pay me back. Meat here is cheaper and better than in Bogota. Just let me know.

Colombians learn the name in school as one of the Emerald mines. It is a VERY old town without a founder. I guess the Spanish coinhabited the town with the Muiscas until they could learn how to get the gems. The simple wood frame church is older than the American Revolution and the site is more than 500 years old

Relatively yes, south and east of Duitama, if you are in Bogotá we could arrange with GringoLoid and maybe Lauthra, and AngelitaBogota to do the trip.

heh bill, how's the beef up there. i know here in antioquia, up country from medallo, it's fantastic. makes one wonder about the beef in the good ole usa. my wife hates gringo beef. i can understand her sentiments, especially when we buy beef from the carnicero in front of the airport and it's sooooooo good.

i remember one time when i was still mfg in colombia, i was down in the skids of downtown talking with my forhajero, when a meat truck pulls up next door to the carniceria on the corner and just dumps the sides of beef in the dirt.....the muddy, greasy dirt one finds in any skid row area. yum!

OK Lets get specific. The 31st would be fine. Who is really interested? How many and for how long? We only have 3 guest beds. Not really near Duitama. It is further to Duitama than Bogota. See the above post. Autopista North to Sisga then East for an hour.
The local butcher is a friend and brother of our neighbor. The meat is baby beef. Los Volcanes is about an hour away and on the road to/from Sisga. Write me directly at w_turley at yahoo.com

My wife in reviewing these posts proposed going to one of our two great resturants. Cost is about $10,000/ person with a bit more for beer or refajo by the pitcher. Let me know your interests. These resturants really are famous for fresh fish but they have other entres also. With a little notice we could get a reserved space for any number in the group.
