And we're back

I've had a lot of requests to open up the site again, especially now with the marches in Colombia, so we're open again. Soon we'll also announce new moderation rules, in short: we'll be a bit stricter in the future. Meanwhile, enjoy and behave!

Hopefully, The Marches can give the forum a better direction...
It isn't going to end anything immediately... but I think yesterday was the most positive day
in regards to a better change for Colombia, since I've been involved with this country the past three years.

(oh... I guess a few people already knew that.)

I´ve been on a few blogs over the years. Back to when I had my Atari 400, people knew what a sysop was, and gasped at the progress of 300 baud.

I have never seen as much whinging as I have on this board. So a time-out period for people to chill seems reasonable. I hope the marches do change history, and am glad to see the board back.

I do know boards which have a separate section for people to whine about the board, moderation, which fora they would like to see, practice posting pictures and sundry other administrative issues. Has it really come to that?

JS and GIB clearly pushed the envelope by times, often with provocation. Moderation here would seem to be a thankless task and they do an excellent job. On most other boards, they put up with nothing, and I do not think they should have to be called nazis here either. I do not think personal attacks should be permitted and while the line is sometimes surprisingly faint, sometimes it is clearly not a joke. On the other hand, I reserve the right to use the word ¨jackboots¨ since one so rarely gets an opportunity these days.

If it is possible to trace IPs than I would give one warning and then a ban, possibly for a cool-out period, then the next time for good. People know what the rules are and when they are being malparidos, and other fora are less accommodating.

thanks for bringing PBH back Peter. I think the timeout was actually a very good idea. We really do appreciate what you all do here, although we sure don't show it, I know.

It is a shame the timing was bad, I think the anti-FARC, anti-violence march is a really important event for Colombia.

Call me naiive but I honestly think it is a momentous event that will eventually lead to a more peaceful Colombia.

So it's nice that we can come back to PBH with a very positive topic to discuss.

I am in agreement with you. Never in the history of Colombia did so many people get together and march to repudiate an insurgency.

Maybe the FARC didn't listen but the word did.
