Can anybody help me to decide. I am trying to get a room in Barranquilla for this month. Is the American Golf HOtel OK. I called and it was only about 40 bucks. Or do you recommend any other nice hotels at a reasonable price. THANKS

jay1234 says on Dec 5, 2006, 17:10: American Golf I stayed there in September...for 5 days then I returned after a 3 day trip to Cartagena and stayed another 6 days. I liked the hotel alot. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff (though they laughed at me when I asked why the hotel name, was there golf nearby?), etc. I did have two different quality rooms during the two stays. The first was on the 4th floor and it was big, with a balcony, cable TV, nice king size bed, AC, spacious bathroom. The second room I got was on the second floor, much smaller. Also, I liked the hotel ammenities. There is internet access in the lobby (not free, but reasonable). The pool area is nice, though when I was there, I only saw one other person use it. The restaurant is pretty good, especially for lunch/dinner. The breakfast buffet (included) was so-so, but that might be in part because I always went at the last moment when they were closing down. The fifth floor has a bar, ok prices, the bartender is the same guy every night, real friendly. They are open every night except Sunday, I think. The location is good, too. It's near the bars on Washington. Also nearby is a good restaurant I highly recommend, La Bonga del Sinu. Hope this was helpful.

It's in a nice part of town so for the price I considered it a bargain. The second floor room I stayed in was too close to the lobby so at times I could hear "out in the lobby" noise. The restaurant is adequate. The pool was too small to exercise in (smaller than most backyard pools), but was large enough to cool off in.

I have not stayed at the American Golf Hotel, but I have heard good things. The last I heard is the prices have increased to about 60/night (but I don't know if this is high season or not)
