always comes in threes

Just returned to u.k from three weeks in Panama /Bogota ( brrrrrrrrr not exactly Cartagena ) where I had lasik surgery / met a stunning amiga / spent a fortune ( linked to stunning amiga) but have to tell of sequence within 24 hours of arriving in Bogota.

1) 3pm Bag containing crap c.d player ,worse c.d's but prized Pimsleur mmc cards CUT from my shoulder while the headphones were still around my neck!!!

2) 10am...whilst undergoing treatment at Barrercuer (sp) clinca my new 50 k notes replaced with old 10 k notes ,guess they thought I would not be able to see !!!

3) 1pm ....totally stiffed by taxi driver for 15 k ...My eyes were not right and I had to trust him..hmmmmmmmmm

This is to someone who has spent up to 3 months a year for the past 6 years in various central american countries.

Got to say though a great trip with great people and here's to the next one.

Robbed twice and stiffed once.... GIB's right! Some guys should just stay home. jajaja!

No way, any woman that I referred to as amiga could cost me a fortune unless of course she was my amiga con derechos. jajaja!

That's clever, swapping the notes while your eyes are not too good. I like that one.

Latinlife, please expand on your second statement.. "2) 10am...whilst undergoing treatment at Barrercuer (sp) clinca my new 50 k notes replaced with old 10 k notes ,guess they thought I would not be able to see !!!"

Go into detail on this as this clinic is widely respected'''Thanks

I think... I think the original poster means that his amiga replaced the 50k notes by 10k ones while he was having the surgery? Otherwise, please elaborate... (http://poorbuthappy.com/colombia/node/15475#comment-114940)

100 % done deed With respect to wonderful people and a great reputation the clinic's security of my clothes whisl't under the knife was poor ,lockers but no locks!!!but still I thought this is a secure sugical area.

This event happaned and reported to a white coat within 15 mins of returning from surgery,I don't know end result ,too busy enjoying being nursed back to health by an absolute angel.

Their mistake was to replace new notes with old as I would not have been able to spot difference with my somewhat blurred eyesight.

This is not an attempt to slag off the clinic ,just the truth and a little heads up.

I gotta chuckle... Sorry to do so at your expense, and really I do empathize...

I gotta chuckle because we all know that if it hasn't already happened to us - trips and moments that test the limits - it will happen one day soon.

My "visit from hell" also came on the first trip there (well, actually the 2nd), and if it wasn't for the wonderful woman I met during my stay, I don't believe that I would have ever set foot in Colombia again.

It was amazing how things spiralled out of control during my last 24 hours there, beginning with some serious intestinal bug, losing my last working credit card, having my bag stolen (but strangely enough returned - too long to explain), and ending with being interrogated and searched thoroughly for drugs at the airport, both bags and body, because they were certain I was a "mula" (it was the Lomotil I bought for the bug that fueled their suspicions). I was not even spared the "mother of all humiliations" by probing fingers, even though my future wife frantically called her father (a retired DAS agent) to intervene. I missed my flight, not to mention my luggage was sliced and diced.

I remember calling my girl when I finally got on the plane later in the day, and she could not stop crying, sobbing "You will never return to me after this!"

Karma's a bitch sometimes, but I figure I've prepaid through 2026 after shit like this. Therefore I travel easy now.

Old notes but not fake notes? old ones buy still usable?

How did your surgery go? Isn't it the best thing in the world? I am so happy with mine. Six years passed and I went for an eye exam last week: my vision is still perfect.!

I wouldn't mind experiencing the "mother of all humiliations" from a shapely female DAS agent who looked like Kat. ChillarĂa como un cerdo.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.
