aloe vera

in my garden I have these plants however I am a little nervous to snap the leaves off for use, any help would be helpful, hair, skin, even to drink I am aware of the values

I had Asthma as a child. My old nanny (Tulia vieja) made me a syrup extract of penca Sábila. It tasted awful and did nothing for the asthma. I remember my father chasing we once with his belt, and me hiding under Tulia's skirt.

the rastafarians in Barbados told me (pale white skin) to use it for SUN PROTECTION/TANNING... long ago.
It worked. It seems to also improve the functioning of the G.I. Tract, and in so doing might even make skin problems less visible. Just my experience and that of those I work with.
