PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
I was driving north on the 7a con 132 when I came upon a bus stalled in the left hand lane. I switched into the center lane to slowly pass when I realized that a car was parked in front of the bus. It became clear to me that it was an obvious case of road rage and the bus driver had gotten out and approached the car. Suddenly, the bus driver comes running around the front side of the bus back towards the bus door with the driver of the car in hot pursuit shooting a pistol. I heard a metalic chink sound and gunned the accelerator and got the heck out of there. I now have a bullet hole in my car. Crazy son bitch.

Rob77 says on Jan 29, 2008, 11:55: That kind of stuff happens anywhere, not just on 7a. The avenues without Transmilenium, like 7a, are worse, because they still have tons of old buses competing. It makes for chaotic, very competitive driving. Usually, the biggest vehicle wins. Of course, a gun beats any vehicle. BOYCOTT CITGO - CHAVEZ SUCKS!!! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

And, I'm in a decent neighborhood. If it bothered me that much, I wouldn't be here. At the same time, we don't need to sugar-coat what it's really like. CatGirl says on Jan 29, 2008, 13:02: GIB: hope I am not going too far off topic. But I must say what you say is sad. I was asked recently by a Colombiano an interesting question about American women. He said that he heard horrible stories about us and that is why the men are coming to Colombia for the women. I will not elaborate on what was said....but all I could answer was " So were these American men that told you this ^&^&*% Good Men?" He could not answer and laughed...All I could tell him was that what he heard was inaccurate about American women. In my experience...In the US - easy to find a man....problem is finding a GOOD man. So I am even more sad to hear these types are overflowing into Colombia, mistreating the Colombiana's and giving American men an even worse reputation. Because there are some good ones out there. MaFe says on Jan 29, 2008, 13:10: GIB I agree with what you are saying in regards to gringo finding Colombianas that will dump them once they are in the states!! See it happening a lot... CatGirl says on Jan 29, 2008, 13:13: GIB - yeah..those type will bad mouth their Colombiana women if they leave them. No one ever wonders why....why these men are always the victim. Hmmm Love and Time: the only two things that cannot be bought, but only spent 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
|
CatGirl says on Jan 29, 2008, 13:19: GIB There is also a rumor (not sure if true) that Colombiana's are fairly subserviant (sp)...close to the stuff you hear about Asian women. There are certain types of men that look for "subversiant women". I need not say more. I suggest they just buy a dog. jaja Love and Time: the only two things that cannot be bought, but only spent 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

CatGirl says on Jan 29, 2008, 13:25: GIB: Sorry my PBH connection is incredibly slow...Maybe I need to defrag and reboot or something. The Brits? Well....I have first hand knowlege of this too. But don't know what mum would say if he brought home a Latina. They may be looking to sow some oats abroad. Oh well, sorry to hear. It only confirms my hypothesis. dwr says on Jan 29, 2008, 13:25: No problem going off track from the bullet. Something I would like to forget anyway. For the record, I'm an American Male who finds American women beautiful, independent and sexy! I really never understood internet weddings and getting married without really knowing and loving your fiance first. I have sat next to men on planes from Miami to Bogota who tell me their story of coming to Colombia to marry a woman they have never met or maybe only met once on a quick business trip. And GIB, I promise you will never see me drunk making a scene in the streets of Bogota! Nothing worse for an expat than idiots setting us up for generalizations.

dwr says on Jan 29, 2008, 13:54: Cat. My experience in Colombia has been exactly opposite that of subservient women. I have always heard the expression that Colombia is a macho society and I'm certain that is true many cases. The Colombian women I come across on a regular basis including my wife give me the impression that Colombia is actually run by it's women. They are highly educated, hard headed, smart, beautiful and ambitious. I never win a fight with a women in Colombia! I think one of the main differences between American women and Colombian women boils down to the maid factor. A little more spoiled maybe. sorry!

CatGirl says on Jan 29, 2008, 14:54: dwr: jaja - good comments. So it really depends on who you ask. As I said, it has not been my experience either. Again, more negative generalizations. Love and Time: the only two things that cannot be bought, but only spent 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
