Alliance Language Centers.....

Hi
Am just wondering if anyone has experience of working at the Allinace Language Center in Bogota? It`s at Clle 118. They have branches in Medellin and Cali as well I think.
I need to know if they are good to work for, reliable and relatively organised etc or if they will expect a hefty pound of flesh for 20000 an hour. Thanks....

alliance they once where a major language school in cali. however, they have downsized. they have good orientation classes for instructors. however, they are very slow to pay their instructors. also, the pay is lousy - roughly 11,000 pesos per hour or less, depending on the class you will teach. this may not cover transportation expenses depending on where you live if you take a taxi to work. they do not discuss compensation during the orientation classes.

i took an orientation class for instructors a year ago in cali. most of the people made offers to teach are gone. many of the instructors for our classes have also left. the main complaint was the very low compensation and being paid more than two months late.

Buyer Beware! G'day!
One of my good lads here in Ireland has a friend who worked at Alliance for quite a while. Shortly after he began working excruciating hours, he took notice that this so-called-great-institute was just a failed attempt to engage native English teachers with promises and hopes of "good" salaries and an on-time payments. His "nurturing-Teaching English Overseas"experience, turned into drama; eventhough, he was presented with a mellifluous job offer.
NB: Do your homework. "Compare and shop" for other English Language institutes before you take the plunge. Word of Advice:
Look into Berlitz.
Cheers!

alliance My girlfriend attends Alliance in Cali.

I think I pay about 180000 a month for sessions that are 1 and a half hours a day five days a week. Also you have to pay about 40000 pesos every couple of months for books.

The classes are taught completely in english and the students get a lot of practice speaking in class. Grammar is taught in the books and usually given as homework.

The teachers have pretty good pronunciation compared to most other english language institutes in Cali.

I did catch a teacher saying "very well" when looking over the homework of students when she sould have said you did very well or good job or something. But at least she pronounced "very well" very well.
