I recently started to book my trip in Colombia from the States (what I can that is), and I found that Satena does not service Barranca, where I'll be, but does Bucaramanga. The key here is that after Barranca I'll be off to Arauca (Tame or Saravena, depending on security and my flight finding abilities). Does any other airline company service Arauca or only Satena? If so, is there a way I can find out if they service Barrancabermeja as well? I'd prefer to go to Tame, but Saravena is fine too (I may have to go to Saravena because Satena doesn't go to Tame from Bucaramanga only Saravena or Arauca (the city)). Lastly, I'm not looking for a lecture on the security situation in Arauca and/or the "lunacy" that some seem to think I have for going there. Plus, I can easily call the trip off once in Colombia, so I'm just looking for any help with airlines. Thank you everybody!

kat1 (Moderator) says on Jul 24, 2006, 01:09: unfortunately satena it' the only airline travelling to Arauca,Saravena and Tame, maybe you can take a bus from Barranca to Bucaramanga and flight from there to the above destinations it's about 50 miles from Barranca to Bucaramanga, at the end of the day you are not concern about security arent you? so bus would be OK engage brain before opening mouth 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Gator says on Jul 24, 2006, 06:10: He is a Colombian Site That May Help . Go to http://www.aerocivil.gov.co/ which is the Colombian equivalent of the USA FAA. If your Spanish is up to it this site lists every airline flying into Colombia, every internal airline, tariffs, itineraries, accidents up to date bulletins etc. BUT Colombia being Colombia it is impossible to vouch for the information. KyleHanky says on Jul 25, 2006, 22:59: Thanks I've contacted my friends in Barranca and they have told me the drive from Barranca to Bucaramanga is safe and if truly necessary, a security guard can be sent with me, though I'm not sure that would do much or be necessary. Driving to Bucaramanga and flying to Saravena seems to be the best option right now on the table. I've seen the avianca flights from Barranca to Bucaramanga and they are ridiculous. Thank you for the info though, and I will check out that website. I'd hope my spanish is up for it, especially if I'm gonna go to Colombia!
