Airline tickets for Christmas

I want to go to Colombia in the middle of December for a few weeks. I'm in North America. I know that airfares for that season are sky high, especially on this route.

Now the question: should I hurry with buying my ticket? Does it matter if I get it in September, October or November? Can I end up in a situation where there are NO tickets at all?

I'm just not sure what my schedule is going to be exactly so if I could wait with buying for a month or two I would.

Thanks!

There are only so many planes and only so many seats. Buy your ticket now.

m_escondido... I just checked for going the week of Thanksgiving, and it's good fares, then. You would imagine the price hikes go into effect sometime in December. When? no se.

For sure, the later in December you plan to go, the earlier you better be buyin yer ticket. like..........NOW.

Where do we go from here?

Colombia does not celebrate Thanksgiving During Christmas every Colombian is fighting for a ticket to get home to there families..Trust me I purchased last year for 890.00 with American because I waited and getting there I had the last seat on that flight..

Buy now I bought early July with Avianca for 650.00 MIA-MDE 12/21-01/02 those dates good luck only Avianca has seats for those dates for 800.00 now.. I noticed American and Copa are sold out for those dates...

My opinion do not play with Christmas dates get now..S.America everybody Latin American with papers are trying to get home with there famalies..

Yes I agree with pathdave. I bought my ticket for MIA-PEI for 12/26-/01-02 and got it for 740. And just 2 days ago I checked the price and they are ranging from 856-1000. so my advice try to get them as early as you can.

Best of luck

''Colombia does not celebrate Thanksgiving'' ??
What? No pilgrims landing on the rocks in Santa Marta?

I'm sure if we changed it to a Monday, it wouldn't take long for them (Colombia) to join in ;)

Where do we go from here?

If you have not nailed the dates by now you are walking on the razor's edge.

Muchacho, don't sweat man. I think buying your tickets now is a good call however. I just picked some up for the same time you're looking at on Expedia flying from NYC and they ran around 585 roundtrip.
