I know this has been discussed a couple times before but I need to ask again: A friend of ours is visiting in the next month. He wants to spend a couple nights in Cartagena, specifically to see the old city. He's travelling alone so doesn't really want to spend the big bucks to stay at a romantic but expensive place like Aqua, Santa Teresa or Santa Clara. All he really needs is a clean, safe room in a fun part of the walled city (ie. near Plaza Santa Domigo and that area.)
I've only stayed at private houses and at the Santa Clara, so I'm not a lot of help. Any advice about a hotel in the $50-$80 range in the walled city would be terrific.
Again, the criteria are, 1) In old city, 2) safe and clean, 3) reasonably priced (not bargain basement).

Its in a great part of the old city, is clean, secure, and the people who work there are great also. Downside is that they dont have hot water, but it didnt bother me. I will stay there again.
