Advice on going to an away game Futbol stadiums.

I will be going next sunday to the Atletico Junior vs Real Cartagena. I am a fan of Atletico and will be going with some friends in Barranquilla.

Is it safe for wearing your teams colors ? Hooligans ? I know when visiting fans from Roma or Milan come to Napoli they get rocks thrown at them and fans try to shake the train.

I heard in Cali its pretty intense between Deportiva and America de Cali for they are crosstown rivals.

Any advice or experiences please share...thanks

I wouldn't wear a team color shirt. It can be a little crazy. It feels really nice to go there but It can be a little crazy sometimes. In Bogota there's a lot of security. I really don't know about Barranquilla.

I go to watch Junior now and then and I never seen much trouble. Just be careful with the ticket you buy. If you buy a ticket with the "ultras", you might get pushed around a bit. There is loads of space to find your own spot.

Like the others said, just go with no team colours and be aware of the pickpockets, I know quite a few people who have been had. don´t take anything you don´t want to lose. other than that its a great place to savour the atmosphere

Try to sit in the end zones. Get pretty drunk before the game and wear those Junior colors!! Try to speak loudly in english and if the Juniors start winning taunt the people around you. I mean it's only game.

You will discover that everyone, I mean really everyone, in the stadium and in the surrounding areas will wear a Junior shirt. Going to the stadium, down La Murillo, do not forget to stop at la 18 to have chicharrones and costillas de cerdo. So if you get drunk, you'll have something nice to vomit onto the ones next to you in the stadium. FORZA ROMA, FORZA LUPI.

Wear a shirt as long as you are always with fellow fans. Never be alone wearing a shirt. I was wearing neutral colours when i went to see atletico nacional vs. independiente medellin. A chivas full of independiente supporters drove by as i was walking alone with the gf, and they brandished knives and looked generally threatening. People were talking about looking for fights. But it's the same, you don't go round south kensington wearing a liverpool shirt, do you?

But the atmosphere was great, and most were just there for the match!

Don't wear your shirt unless you are going to be where the "Barra Brava" of Junior will be. Just my advice!

Btw check out on Thrusday one of the biggest rivalries in Colombia between Atletico Nacional vs. Millonarios in Bogota, both fan groups put out a great show.

Hey guys,

What's the best way to get tickets for the league games in Colombia? Is there a way to pre-pay via the internet and pick them up at the Stadium via a "Will Call?"

They only do that at the beginning of the season for the "abonados" (season ticket holders). Otherwise non-season ticket holders usually get their tickets from the stadium window or scalpers, also its very easy to get tickets for any game in Colombia even during a derby and scalpers charge at most $3,000 pesos more which is basically nothing.
