Advice on Bogota layover

I changed my travel plans and am flying into Bogota early Saturday afternoon before taking a midnight flight to Canada. The travel agent told me Bogota airport has no place to store luggage, even for a fee. Avianca sometimes lets people check in luggage hours in advance, and they codeshare with Air Canada, so maybe...

If not, what is the best plan? Take a cheap hostel for one night to store luggage and snooze? Is the travel agent mistaken about no sala de equipaje or Avianca checking in luggage ten hours early? Air Canada generally only allow check-in three hours in advance.

Advice?

Don't honestly know the answer about luggage storage or very early check in.

The hostel idea is a good one. If you passed by some place like Platypus without notice, they would probably be full but would almost certainly let you dump your bags there. They are easygoing and you could always buy a beer or two or a moment on the internet, so that you're a bona fide customer.

I think you will find there is a luggage storage place in Bogota. There was a post here a few weeks back...

There most definitely is a left-luggage bodega at the airport.........for a very reasonable fee. Be prepared to properly identify yourself.

Try taking a quick trip to the Bus Terminal, which is fairly close to the airport. They have luggage storage there. But if you're going to be staying at a hotel anyways, take it with you.

they have luggage storage...its just inside the glass doors of the national arrivals in the main airport....so if you coming in on a national flight as you are going to exit from the luggage pickup just look to the left before you exit the glass doors where all the people are waiting for arrivals ...it kind of small so you might miss it

listo

I'm pretty sure I left luggage there for a short time...I think vicshere has it right.

I just think it can't be left for more than 24 hrs for some reason. But don't think that applies to you so you should be fine.

adrimm says on Sep 28, 2007, 18:41:

OMG what are you doing there with such a short stop? Longass trip.

I think the airport makes sense - maybe give them a shuot at Platypus for a confirmation about the left luggage. I'm sure German would know.
