Hi everyone. A few months ago I flew down to Barranquilla to visit my fiancee for the first time. I went straight from the plane to the taxi to the hotel (El Prado), where I spent most of my time. I didn't encounter any problems. I would like to fly down and visit her again, but now I know a lot more about the potential dangers and it has me somewhat concerned. Was my good fortune beginner's luck or is it fairly safe if one avoids walking the streets?

N2Aquatix says on Feb 2, 2005, 01:51: Thanx Lionheart I really enjoyed my trip to Barranquilla. Not just because I got to meet the woman who has now become an integral part of my life, but also because the climate and scenery are a lot like Hawaii but much less expensive. I would like to go again in the next couple of months. Everyone was very nice to me the first time, but I was also told by many that the bad element does exist and to avoid strange places, so I did. Hawaii at a fraction of the cost? You bet I want to go back!!! By the way, Hawaii can be dangerous if you stray from the beaten path. ;-)
