Greetings, everyone - I'm new to this site and have learned a lot already. Thanks.
I'm hoping to travel to Bogota February 13th, to pick up my new 10 year old son from an orphanage. We will need to stay for about a month. Although he's fluent in Spanish, I only know a few phrases. Looking to stay someplace safe and relatively close to the ICBF Adoption office. Inexpensive would also be great because this whole adoption process has been extremely costly.
And if anyone has advice about low cost airfare from New York to Bogota, I'd love that as well.
Muchas gracias...Esperanza

scumbuster says on Jan 28, 2008, 12:56: I stayed close to there about 1 year ago. I am not sure of the exact address but will check with my wife. It was a very nice appartment near unicentro. We only stayed 1 week and it was $45 a night, but it was a better price if you rented by the month. My wife and myself have been talking about adopting and our last trip in October we stoped at the adoption office to ask questions about the process. How long did it take you to get this far?

hopester says on Jan 28, 2008, 19:21: Thanks for the support and advice. Mighty kind of you. I'm a single mom of a 10 year old son. We heard about the Kidsave Summer Miracles program, where you host a child for the summer (kidsave.org). We hosted this delightful Colombian boy the past two summers. It has been a very long road, but it finally worked out, and now we get to welcome him into our family.

msaucey says on Jan 28, 2008, 21:31: hopester.... CONGRATuLATIONS... and thank you for opening your home, heart and life to another child that needs a true "home".... I've heard of the kidsave program briefly and I think this is the first post I've read on here where a child was adopted through that process... Sounds like a good fit....
