Added New Pictures to my gallery

Hi All,

I am sick, absolutely sick with anticipation of finally going back to Medellin, and I was looking through digital pictures I took on my first trip (which will always be my favorite... my first time in South America) and thought I would share the pictures that I haven't already.

I will try to add more in the coming months.

Dave

Ps. Is it normal to be homesick for a place that's not your home?

Checked out the photos, Daver. Very nice. I can certainly see why you are sick with anticipation.

I don't know if it's normal, but I certainly feel homesick for a place that's not my home. I've missed sorely all the places where I have lived before, even the ones where I wouldn't want to live any more. Most of all, I miss the line of Farallones of Cali in the horizon...

Lovely pictures, daver. Have a great trip back "home" of your heart.

Cheers,
Desi

i liked the pictures david... sort of a deja vu type of response...been there, seen that.

did you venture into the surrounds of medellin? like el retiro, la ceja, maranilla, san antonio, rio negro, carmen de viboral, guarne, etc?

or are you saving the treats for next time. i love it more in the outskirts now after living a couple of years out of the city. now, i can live without the city...easy.

keep us posted on your journey, or, just get lost in the out back somewhere, make a lot of kids and make contact again in about 10 years with the old lady plump, kids all over the place and you in a grass hat, somewhere between the airport and guarne. oh boy. or down in llano grande.

peace, friend. be safe and have a wonderful time.

Maybe. I am not sure of the names of the places I went to, but if you look at the pics, many are on the outskirts looking into (or down onto) the city. I let the Colombians pick where we were going, as I would have been pretty lost pretty quick if it were up to me.

I'm not a big city type, but the wife is in Medellin, so I'll be in Medellin. She lives high up in Poblado (elevation) and its pretty nice up there... the drive into the city is pathetic though. Traffic like a whore's dream.

"just get lost in the out back somewhere"

I've been told not to by many, but if I get any braver, I may.

That's not what I signed up for pal!! (hahaha!!!) I want 2 kids, and a cottage in Northern Ontario. Simple dreams for a simple guy. The old lady is encouraged to stay thin, too. Although I lied and said I would love her no matter what she weighs. LOL!

Thanks for all your kind words... everyone.

Don't worry, Daver. If she's like most Colombianas, they are obsessed with keeping their figures. (Although they love it when you tell them you'll love them no matter what!) I have to exercise like a maniac so I won't look like my wife's father.

UC,

I have to exercise like a bastard so I won't look like my own father! (and I think its keeping my hair from falling out too) I sure as hell won't give up beer, so its treadmills and pushups for this Canuck.

Yes, they do love it when you tell them that you'll love them no matter what. But, I think she already knows that she's got me all wrapped up anyway, and can pretty much do whatever she wants LOL! I'm kinda like a kitchen floor... lay me right the first time, and you can walk all over me for the rest of your life. LOL!!

hi dave... nope, the places i mentioned are further out than a rim view of the city. most of the places i recommended are all out on the way to the airport.

you can ask your wife about any of them. she living in las palmas (upper poblado) is a guarantee that she is familiar with all of them. in fact, she probably has favorites. and when you get your chance to go out there with her, you'll quickly develop your favorites as well.

you know of course, the surface of my comments in my post above was purely 'jest' and basically a silly way of wishing you and your lady all the best in the world...whether that means canada, colombia or timbuctoo.

we'll be moving back to medellin (the area) later this year. but no doubt we'll come back here every now and then. we'll end up with a home on both ends.

anyway, friend, all the best.

I probably shouldn't be saying this but there's just you and me here. Mentioning the kitchen floor reminded of the time my wife was wearing a short skirt and cooking in the kitchen. Suddenly I lay down on the floor and started looking up her skirt while she cooked. She thought it was funny as hell and asked me if I was enjoying myself down there. I sure was enjoying myself - what a view! I ask you, what North American woman would ever let you do that? Sober that is.
