About some of the people talking trash on this site

You probably noticed, the signal to noise ratio has been kind of bad here lately - we've had a few people trying to mess up this community. That stuff always happens, every now and then someone with nothing else to do comes along and posts a lot of crap. We always try to delete those posts and their accounts.. So apologies for the crap that gets posted here sometimes, and a big THANKS to everybody on this site, for making this one of the best websites about Colombia. I have some cool plans for next year, to make this website even more useful. Let me know your ideas too!

On a related note, I started this around october 1998, so around this time of the year, this website is having its 6th Birthday! Yey!

I noticed the font size or the format on the PBH website become smaller, if it is not too much trouble can you configure it to regaing the previous look?

URl Actually, if you look at the URL, that number indicates the amount of posts. So we're at over 15,000 posts.. (that doesn't include comments).

Thanks Peter Thanks for the site. A year ago I had never even planned on ever visiting Colombia. I met a Colombian girl and found this site. I have found it very useful and have learned to discount certain information posted by certain members. I have even told a lot of my Colombian friends in the USA about the site. However none have really stuck to it as they said it can get too negative about their country so your moderation is always necessary.

Although I don't participate as actively as others, I've been around this site for a very long time, when it was barely visited by a handful of people and posts were few and far between. You should be very proud of the way it's grown and evolved. Although I worry at times about offensive, misleading, one-sided, subjective, etc. conversations which may actually end up hurting Colombia, overall I think the effect of this site is positive and as far as I can tell it's still the best forum dedicated to my country on the Web.

Gracias de nuevo!

This is what happens when you come to this country, you forget your own language and never learn English!

peter...it should go without saying, your site is the best and a must for those who know colombia and those who choose to know her. i know my thanks go out to you from all of us who know and use your gift. thank you.

i apologize for recently 'outing' a poster in a way not permitted on the site, however, after receiving a pm from the poster which i found truly offensive and out of line, i couldn't resist making a point of his presumption and offensiveness. i hope you accept my apology. i sent this offender a non offensive pm to get my message accross.

i'm glad having been permitted to share my extensive experience in colombia with others who can/might make some use of it.

again, from all of us, thank you.

Thanks to both Peter and dwmte... To Peter for creating PBH and to dwmte for offering a unique perspective on the experience of "going native" in Colombia (my interpretation).

GOOD JOB PETER! HERE-HERE!! Peter,
This is a WONDERFUL site!! I have recommended to everybody interested in learning more about my beautiful country. I am from Barranquilla and I teach Spanish at a University here in the USA, all my students know about this site and they even use it for some of their research papers! (of course sometimes that is like 'opening a can of worms', but hey!)
Keep up the good work and a heartfelt GRACIAS por todo! :-)
Rafa.
PS. Make sure you continue monitoring/deleting the adds of people that don't deserve to belong to our PBH family!
