Hi everyone!

Since I am gonna go in 2 months and love watching movies I want to know about how much DVD's cost there to see if it is worth it for me to take as many as possible from here...

( and not Pirateados)

How about CD's?
( no pirateados)

Gracias ! Thanks!

Cost I would say that buying from a regular store, the prices would compare to US.

If not the pirateados, then bring them with you only if you have your own player. I am not sure that your DVDs from the USA or London will play in the machines in Colombia. Autentico DVDs are coded by region, and unless you have region-free DVD player, your DVDs will not work in Colombia.

If where you are staying (perhaps family) has a DVD player, you can rent DVDs while you are there.

That being said, I've bought some great quality pirateados in Bogota for COP5.000-7.000. Menu, subtitles, alternative speaking language all included.

Colombian system is ntcl and europe is pal. so I think the USA DVD's are NTCL. DVD's could cost you 30.000 cop,and depends if just release.

Hey Tonelo So pirateados are not too bad quality?

My brother gave my mom a DVD player so I assume since he bought here in USA should work fine.... would pirateados work fine on an USA DVD player ( by the way I never knew there were differences) ...

I just feel bad buying pirateados... by I am not rich and the actors are ..right ?

THanks for your help everyone!

. Find out if your DVD is multizone, so you wont have a problem. In Colombia you can buy multizone DVD players or most of them come with two zones: 1(North America)and 4. The average price of a DVD (not pirateado)is COP$70 thousand

I've never had a problem with the few copies I have. I always preview before I buy. I think I have 5 or 6 copied movies. Just gotta watch what you're getting.

Antiquenita I have a library full of pirateados from here in the USA, and from Colombia. All very-good quality. Some are the studio advance DVDs, where they have the little annoying disclaimer that runs across the bottom of the screen. After the first 2-3 minutes, you completely ignore it.

Same procedures apply when buying them here or there.

- MAKE SURE IT'S A DVD, NOT A VCD (Video CD).
- Make sure to review them (menu, front, middle, back) for sound and picture quality, even language
- Know how much it costs before going there
- Have an idea of what specific movies you're looking for, or you'll end up like me with 10 for COP50.000. When the hell will I ever have time to watch 10 movies?

I know a good place in San Andresito in Bogota. If you're going to Medellin, go with somebody to El Hueco en Centro.

I picked up La Sierra, El Rey, and the obligatory porno DVDs while down there last time. Funny enough, 2 of the 3 pornos were poor quality. I didn't check them before buying them. LOL!!!

I have a great seller of DVD copies $7 mil, great quality, DVD, and if there´s a problem, he´ll replace it no questions asked.

If you´re in Medellin, call me at 3434343 and I can arrange that you can meet him at my restaurant.
