webmanco says on Dec 16, 2005, 12:03: I hope it won´t be the last time (100%Colombian) We just need posters with love for Colombia and with the energy, patience and wisdom to advice and answer questions about Colombia, regarding every aspect the good, and the not so good. The latter is what some posters like to do. Guatape Iglesia en Guatape Medellín Sabaneta El Peñol Sabaneta I am Colombian and do Live there COLOMBIA ...A yo, déjenme queto y no me jodan má! ... 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

montreal says on Dec 16, 2005, 12:05: I think the "poorbuthappy" title is agreeing exactly with your comments. It states that the country is "materialistically" poorer than North America, yet "happier". I want to visit colombia soon, and i found the site informative as well as funny and entertaining. I'm in Canada. i don't have pity for colombians ?

utopiacowboy says on Dec 16, 2005, 12:25: What a typical post. You've lived in Canada for the last 4 years and are now pissing and moaning about Canada and babbling about how "perfect" Colombia is. Why don't you get tu estupido trasero back to Colombia and quit your bitching. I am sure glad that my three stepchildren aren't like you. They are 100% Colombian and proud of it but they appreciate their situation in the US and do not spend any time moaning and bitching about it. utopiacowboy says on Dec 16, 2005, 13:47: No place is perfect. Every place has its pluses and minuses. The only constant is YOU. You can choose to be happy or not. Luckily my wife and stepkids all choose to be happy. Which is a rather Colombian trait. JohnJ says on Dec 17, 2005, 00:25: just a thought I think Colombian immigrants, and those of other countries do have a hard time integrating into Canadian society? It's not her fault to feel that things weren't so bad back in Colombia. But having said that I think successful immigration takes time patience and perseverance. I don't think children born of immigrants would so quick to throw out everything - including the relative peace and security of their new home countries - and go back. Please also consider the posters age. She is relatively young.

mariasman says on Dec 22, 2005, 00:32: Hello again Ok,,, The name "Poorbuthappy" Does not refer to Colombians at all. The reason that they named the site "Poorbuthappy" was in dedication to all the foriegns who go to Colombia and fall in love with Colombian princess or for the landscape( yea right??) and then some chemical reaction happens in the Gringo's body that tells him that he should leave his job and take a lesser paying job or no job at all which refers to the "Poor" part of the name of the site and the "but happy" part also refers to the Gringo because after we have met our Colombian princess, we are happy(VERY HAPPY) even though we can't get a job in Colombia because the language separates us, we are happy. Even though if we do find a job, we will be paid 10 times less than what we were making when we were back home, we are happy. Even though it was easier to buy cocaine back where we are from, we are happy(Kidding:)). If the site was named in honor of me, It would be called "Homeless and car less but Happy" Anyway, just relax. You have a beautiful country and very rich in everything. Why do you think all the gringo's want to go there??? Well, atleast us brave Gringo's who don't fear La Cucaracha( anymore)(Kidding) Merry Christmas!!!! mariasman 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

All I have to say is I love Colombia more than anything in the world and am proud of having my childhood there. Although I was born in Chicago I consider myself 100 percent born-and-raised Colombian. Whenever I go I feel that no time has passed and everything is just like I left it, although my town was hit by one of the worst earthquakes of the last 60 years my people never lost their spirit, throughout tragedy they retained what makes us Colombian, being able to preserve our warmth and our smiles. I only wish I could share the beauty that is Colombia with the rest of the world so they also can experienced the land that gave me the happiest childhood possible.

Colombiche says on Apr 17, 2006, 09:27: UC The kid is 16 and he was brought to the States when he was 9, he didn't pack up and leave Colombia on his own incentive, he might have experienced a profound culture shock, unless you know what that is like, you really can't identify with the kid. I actually work with kids that are having a hard time adjusting, because I know how hard it is, these hispanic kids are looking to cling on to their identity, sometimes end up joining gangs to feel more "latino".. the need role models, not people who will beat them over the head. Colombiche says on Apr 17, 2006, 09:30: colombiano I say make the best of it for now. You are 16, you are standing at the beginning of the line, the world is your oyster and you are in a land of opportunity. Take advantage, show the world what a young colombiano can do. Negative thoughts about the place where you live will be detrimental. No me den trago extranjero, que es caro y no sabe a bueno.... (Rafael Godoy) 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
