A sad state of affairs

Colombia, 51st in the latest FIFA rankings. A depressing demise from dark horses for '94, group stage of '98.

Ridiculous.

As the bell boy said to George Best, "Mr Best, where did it all go wrong?"

Northern Ireland is ahead of Colombia for heaven's sake! And let's face it, without David Healy we couldn't hit a barn door from 10 yards.

I disagree....big Kyle Lafferty is shit-hot.

Colombia would rip your arm off for a Kyle Lafferty.

Anyone know what happened to a kid from Bucaramanga called Sherman Cardenas, aged about 19? I heard he was going to be the next big thing?

-----------------------------------
It's because they don't have to compete with the teams Colombia has to play against like Brazil, Argentina and shockingly enough Chile. The CONMEBOL League is by far superior to the CONCACAF League, so I'm sure Panama, Honduras and even the US would rank way below what they rank now if they had to play any of the South American teams. That's not to say that Colombia is a better team though because they've proved they pretty much suck even with a new coach.

Well a team that can't score doesn't deserve to be in the top 50... it's a shame with such quality strikers, many of the higher ranked teams would foam at the mouth to have Falcao, Wason Renteria, and Rodallega at their disposal.
There's still hope though, but it's a must we pick up wins against Venezuela and Bolivia.

I don't the exact method of calculation but it's the reason Mexico used be ranked something silly like 7th in the world, they ended up playing lots of friendlies against smaller nations slowly improving their points.
